I almost forgot to write a blog…

Its been a busy day!

6:50am- Studying the Book of James, today we did verses 2:14-17 and then we colour code and S.O.A.K it.. So that takes a while.

Then I read half a chapter of my book, checked my online things like my emails and Facebook etc.

8:00am time to get up and get the Star Son off to School, by the time he leaves I’ve usually started a load of laundry, made the bed and done the dishes. So by 8:45am the house is clean, the Galah Charlie has been fed and entertained.

Each morning I start a fresh journal page and put a check list of jobs or things I want to achieve. It looks like this…

  • Bible Study- James 2:14-17
  • Art-
  • Crochet-
  • Book-

Then as I have done the thing I make a note and tick it off..

Art– Yesterday I did a Bible page from Rebekah R Jones series called “Heaven is Calling” I am really loving the way Rebekah breaks down each lesson and shows us how she did her page and also breaks down the scripture so that we understand it more, LOVE that!

And today I finished the page I began preparing yesterday, we had to do two layers of base coat and allow to dry then go over it with water colour which absolutely soaks the page.. While still wet we had to lay some cling film on top and smoosh it all around and then leave it to dry. I will confess that I was nervous about that process because let’s be honest I am yet to find a bible that has thick pages, so I waited with baited breath to see how it would turn out.

Cling wrap over wet water colour, a few nervous moments…

This is the final result. This was lesson 5 in Rebekah R Jones series “Heaven is Calling” we discussed how an Angel came to Gabriel and spoke to him, but he doubted that it was a message from God because “Why would God talk to me?” Well, now OUR God as I am getting to know him, and knowing how much he loves us, my question for Gabriel is “Why NOT me?”

Anyways.. As you can see the cling wrap came off nicely and I am totally in love with how this background turned out, in fact, so much so I will definately be using that technique again. In Rebekah’s instructional video, she used a rubber stamp with white ink to make the word “Healed” I didnt have either of those so I hand wrote it and used a white posca pen, not the best choice, Im not happy with the “whitenes” I really prefer Rebekah’s brilliant white, but hey, we work with what we have and so overall I love this page! Yesterday I also started prepping todays page, again, another two coats of sealer were required.

Today’s “Heaven is calling” lesson was anout Mary and Martha. When they met Jesus, Mary dropped at his feet and listened intently to all he had to speak of, but Martha, poor, Martha was side tracked preparing the feast and looking after everyone and so she asked Jesus “Lord, dont you see what Mary is doing? Leaving all the work for me to do? Are you not going to tell her to come help me?” (side note… I can hear MY voice coming out Martha’s mouth!) Jesus gently rebuked Martha and told her that Mary was doing the right thing and that she was having doing a good thing and he would NOT rebuke her and that Martha should “Choose the good portion” hmmm, something to think about next time I am wanting to moan about having to do all the work. Here’s what my version looked like…

So my Bible art is well and truely back on track and I am loving it and realising I have been missing my small bite sized chunks of art!

I am also working on a FREE art journaling class with Allyson Bright, she also has us in a FB group, so we can add our work there and ask for feedback if we want it. So here are some of those pages… Today was lesson number 5- the prompt was to do a page about an animal we love, we we have plenty to chose from but I found this lovely photo of my poodle Ambrosia so I did a page on her.

Yesterday- I did day 3- “What is your Name?” Now since no one uses my name much, I chose to honor the other names I am called. Mum, Marley, Mumsy, Mumma from my children. Grandma and Me Maa from my Grand babies, amd my husband AKA “The Bloke” calls me “His Sheila” so this page represents all that.

Also yesterday, because the boys were at late football training and I had some spare time I did another page, this was for day 4- a list of “Things that make me happy” .. I love lace, pearls, glitter, chocolate, coke a cola, roses, my Bible study lots of things!

Next on the list is crochet, I am currently crocheting a blanket for my soon to be born Grand daughter, and I chose to do it in chunky wool so it’ll be nice and warm and quick to make. I am doing corner to corner again, since my daughter loved the last blanket I made for my niece’s baby due in November.

Then we have reading.. Well I have to schedule that in as well or else it doesnt get done, so I am currently reading yet, another Di Morrissey book, this one is called “The winter sea” I love that most of her books are set all in Australia or at least partly Australia and partly another country. So I got a chapter and a half of that read.

So that brings me up to fate. i thought I would share my arty stuff only occasionally so you dont all get bored.

Bible study or more than one…

Oops I did it again… I slipped and fell into another bible study… I need to slow down or risk over doing it…

Over at Good Morning Girls we are currently doing the Book of Job. Last week I was doing The Book of Acts and The Book of Job at the same time, but thankfully today I finished The Book of Acts and so I am just doing Job. Today is Job 6 and here is the question for today..

“Job earnestly wants to know what he has done wrong and the lesson he needs to pull from this” Name a time in your life when you struggled to find what God was trying to show you?

Oh boy, there have been a few times in my life, where I have wondered “What did I do to deserve this?” That was before I started studying the Lords words and even back then I kind of thought there was a God but he wouldnt know me because I didn’t know anything about him, how wrong I was back then.. He KNEW me from when he grew me in my Mothers womb, my life is written in his book.. But back then I just wondered “What did I do to deserve this?” Now I look back and I can SEE what GOD wanted me to learn from those hard times and those painful places. Therapy and journaling have helped but now I know God’s got a plan for me and everything is a learning curve I am like “Ohh that makes sense” even when back then it hurt and didnt make sense.

Then I signed up for a bible study on Love, we all need that right?! So that is over at Cooking up faith. We are spending the year doing a study on 1 Corinthians.. Here’s a teaser from the website…

* Thank you for joining us in our Love in 2016 series. We are studying 1 scripture (1 Corinthians 13:4-8) throughout 1 year, to make 1 very big difference in our lives. Come back every Monday for a new post in our LOVE series.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

So for the first week of this study, we studied

Jeremiah 14:22

“Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain? Do the skies themselves bring down the showers? No it is you Lord, our God. Therefore our hope is in you, for you are the one who does all this”

Then we use the S.O.A.P method and we do a study on the Scripture.

Without sharing my whole study, I took this Gem from the scripture, “That there is only one God, he is the beginning and the end, he made everything in the world and so therefore we should not question him.”

The next Scripture we had to S.O.A.P was Isaiah 8:17

“I will wait for the Lord who is hiding his fac from the descendants of Jacob and Imwill put my trust in him”

“Isaiah trusted the Lord even when it seemed like he had turned his back on Jacobs people… Dont give up on the Lord he does things in his timing.”

The third S.O.A.P for week one was Michah 7:7

“But for me I will watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior, my God will hear me”

if you read the whole chapter Michah is talking about how people turn on each other, Im sure we have all experienced that, it says “Sons against Fathers, daughters against Mothers, wives against husbands” but the Lord never turns away from us, which is why we should put pur faith in the Lord not in the “world” ( or people)

I am looking forward to week two of this study.

Then I got invited to take part in a study group on Facebook, I had asked last year and missed out on that study group, so the Lady remembered me this time and invited me. This one is through a webpage called Love God Greatly

Each day we are given a Scripture to read and again using the S.O.A.P method. Today was day one and we had to read Acts 41-47 and do S.O.A.P on Acts 2:42 which reads: “They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” We were asked the question “How is prayer important to the Christian community?”

I believe prayer is important because its like our own private hotline to the Lord, so we can share our lives with him, in good things we thank and praise him, in worrying times we give him those worries and he eases the burdens. I personally often chat away to God through out the day, when the weather is nice or when something nice happens un expectedly I thank him for it all.

The verse for us to memorise this week is

” Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receieve mercy and find grace to help in time of need” Hebrews 4:16

So thats been my Bible studies for this week. I am also working through a study guide called “Plant my feet on higher ground”  by Victor M Matthews. This is unit #4 of 144 for my Diploma of Bilical studies.

Three things coming soon…

Oh I am so excited!!

3 things coming soon a

Good Morning Girls

We are currently working through the book of Proverbs and I am enjoying it a lot. But for many months I have had “Proverbs 31” bookmarked in my Bible and I would read it each day!

Epilogue: The Wife of Noble Character Proverbs 31

10 [b]A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
    and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
13 She selects wool and flax
    and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
    bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up while it is still night;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her female servants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
    but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
31 Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

I just love everything about the Proverb 31 woman!

I mean really… who doesn’t want to be worth more than rubies? and have her children call her Blessed?

Charm is deceptive.. and beauty (if you have it) is fleeting but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised!

I just LOVE this verse.. so I am so excited today when Courtney announced…

God’s Angel to Prepare the Way

“See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him.  If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you.

Application-

  • God looks after you always, even sending Angels ahead of you when he feels you need it.
  • When you are a believer God supports you in good and bad times.

Thursday- Scripture- Exodus 24:15-18

When Moses went up on the mountain, the cloud covered it,  and the glory of the Lord settled on Mount Sinai. For six days the cloud covered the mountain, and on the seventh day the Lord called to Moses from within the cloud. Tuesday, January 27, 2015
Tell us about your morning routine. What is one thing you want to change?

my morning routine consists of waking up between 6.40 and 6.50 am, once my eyes can focus I start my bible studies… at the moment we are doing Exodus and so I read that and then use the S.O.A.K method… (stands for S-Scripture, O-Observation, A-Application and K-Kneel in prayer.) Thats get written in a small ring binder. Then we use a colour chart to colour in the chapter, so my bible is getting very colourful and at the start I found it to be “time-consuming” but now I am enjoying it because my word for 2015 is “Deeper” and with this method you really have to pay attention to whats written there and use different colours for different things.

What is one thing I would like to change? Maybe to have a bit more time to soak deeper.. but I get my studies done and then I have to get the rest of the household into their morning routines.

Scripture- Exodus 11:4-8

“So Moses said “This is what the Lord says “About Midnight I will go throughout Egypt. Every first-born son in Egypt will die, from the first-born son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the first-born son of the female slave, who is at her hand-mill, and all the first-born cattle as well. There will be a loud wailing throughout Egypt worse than there has ever been or ever will be again. But among the Israelite’s not  dog will bark  at any person or any animal. Then you will know that the lord makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.”

Application-

  • Be like the Israelite’s who believed in God and apply his words to your life.
  • Avoid the wrath of God like Egypt who were bombarded by disasters.

Scripture- Exodus 12:31-36

“During the night the Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said ” UP! leave my people; you, and the Israelites! Go worship the Lord as you have requested. Take your flocks and your herds, as you have said and go! and also bless me.” The Egyptians urged the people to hurry and leave the country “For otherwise” they said “We will all die” So the people took their dough before the yeast was added, and carried it on their shoulders in kneading troughs wrapped in clothing, The Israelites did as Moses instructed and asked the Egyptians for articles of silver and gold and clothing. The Lord had made the Egyptians favorably disposed towards the people, and they gave them what they asked for, so they plundered the Egyptians.”

 Application-

  • The Israelites were in Egypt for 430 years but they never gave up listening to and praying for the Lord.
  • “good things come to those who wait” you ask the Lord for a thing and then you wait for his timing.

Scripture- Exodus 13:20-22

After leaving Sukkoth they camped at Etham on the edge of the desert. By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night.  Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.

Application-

  • When you believe in God he will guide you to safety,
  • The Lord goes ahead of us to bring us through the hard things. He is our guide and safe keeper.

Scripture- Exodus 14:29-31

But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left. That day the Lord saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore. And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.

Application-

  • The Israelites followed the Lord no questions, they just did it.
  • Pharaoh got his just deserts and finally saw the work of the mighty Lord.

Scripture- Exodus 15:19-21

When Pharaoh’s horses, chariots and horsemen[a] went into the sea, the Lord brought the waters of the sea back over them, but the Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground. Then Miriam the prophet, Aaron’s sister, took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her, with timbrel and dancing. Miriam sang to them:

“Sing to the Lord,
    for he is highly exalted.
Both horse and driver
he has hurled into the sea.”

Application-

  • Follow God’s lead, no matter where to and then rejoice at the Conclusion
  • Praise the Lord with song and dance to honor him in his guidance.

Spiritual Sunday on Monday… ah well ya get that!

      Spiritual Sunday

We’re back!! The Good Morning Girls and I are back… we’ve started on Exodus, and also this year we are colour coding.. so that has been an added challenge.

My “Spiritual Sunday” is a day late for a few reasons, which I apologize for..

A- I am still technically in “holiday mode” this will come to an abrupt halt in a few days (Wednesday) when the Bloke goes back to work. We have been in and out of the house and in and out of the holiday place and up and down the roads.

B- to be perfectly honest it’s been a struggle getting myself back into my routine, because “no alarm” meant I woke up when my eyes or a baby woke me up, So then depending on the time I didn’t have the usual luxury of the first hour with the Lord, It’s OK I discussed it with him and he’s OK as long as I get it done sometime during the day. One day I even resorted to doing my study in the car on the way somewhere it was the only “Quiet” time I got!

So this is the start of the second week and I a only getting to blog about the first week, I need to work more efficiently at this part of it.

Blogging through the Bible

Blogging through the Bible

This week’s Memorization Verse was:

Memory-Work-Psalm-77-1112

JanWeekOne

Week OneExodus One through Five.

Monday- Scripture- Exodus 1:15-17

“The King of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiperah and Puah  “When you are helping the Hebrew women during childbirth the delivery stool, if you see the baby is a boy, kill him, But if it is a girl, let her live.” The Midwives however, feared God and did not do as the King of Egypt had told them to do, they let the boys live”

Application-

  • Go against that which you know to be immoral like the Midwives did.
  • They feared God more than the King of Egypt.

Tuesday- Scripture-  Exodus 2:1-3

“Now a man of the tribe of Levi married a Levite woman, and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son, When she saw that he was a fine child she hid him for three months, but when she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus basket and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she placed the sleeping child in it and put it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile”

Application-

  • God watches over those who fear his word and takes good care of them
  • Moses never forgot where he came from despite where he was raised.

Wednesday- Scripture- Exodus 3:10-12

“So now go, I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites  out of Egypt.” But Moses said to God “Who am I that I should go to the Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”And God said”I will be with you. And this will be a sign to you that it is I who have sent you; when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this Mountain”

Application-

  • Anyone can do anything with the Lord to comfort and guide them
  • God was with Moses on the journey, leading and coaching him along the way.

Thursday- Scripture- Exodus 4:29-31

“Moses and Aaron brought together all the elders of the Israelites and Aaron told them everything the Lord had said to Moses. He also performed the signs before the people and they believed. And when they heard that the Lord was concerned about them and had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshiped”

Application-

  • If you are a believer of the Lord, then no matter what happens believe that God is watching over you and leading you through it.
  • God has a reason for everything he does or doesn’t do it is our job to just believe.

Friday- Scripture- Exodus 5:22 &23

“Moses returned to the Lord and said “Why, Lord why have you brought trouble on these people? is this why you sent me? Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak your name, he has brought trouble on the people, and you have nit rescued your people at all”

 Application

  • We are to do as the Lord tells us, faithfully and without question,
  • It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t make “sense” to us it is his will and we need to do it.

IMG_0556                         IMG_0555

And here is my pretty colour coded bible! I was very happy with the colour chart method. Please join me next week for the next bit of the Saga of Exodus.

We’re backkkk! Good Morning Girls and bible study are back!

I have to confess I missed my lessons, I didn’t waste the “break” though I did the Sharon Jayne’s “The Power of a Woman’s words” and I learnt a lot.

A- I like Sharon’s writing and her way of teaching the lessons, I was working from the book and I also had the work book, which involved a  lot of Scripture searching, which was good because I had never read a lot of those scriptures so I learnt new things. plus Sharon asked really juicy questions some I couldn’t even begin to think of answers to.

B- I am not sure why I am currently being drawn to all the women teachers.. first study I did after Rock Warren’s “The Purpose Driven Life” was

  • Jolene Engel’s- The Wives of the Bible
  • Girlfriends in God (emails was another different type of study I did)
  • 30 days Husband encouragement challenge (via email that was fun, I had to encourage my husband for 30 days, not whine once!)
  • Psalm 139- we had to read it every day for a month and then rewrite it in our own words.
  • Joyce Meyer’s “How to hear from God”

I’ve also brought a few more “woman” based studies maybe God is trying to tell me I need some more female friends?!

So I was really happy today to wake up and know that it was time for…..

Blogging through the Bible

Blogging through the Bible

So here is this week’s plan

JanWeekOne

and now we have started a new thing called “Monday Mediation and Memorization”

(Taken from Courtney’s email-)

I prefer to memorize large chunks of scripture over hopping around from verse to verse.  This Psalm I chose is a reflection on the happenings of Exodus.

We want to remember the wonders of our Mighty God and what He has done in the past.  We serve this same God!  The passage says, “I will meditate on your mighty deeds.”  That is exactly what we will do.

Please print the entire passage or just the verses for this week and put a copy by your computer, in your kitchen, in your bathroom, your purse, your pocket, in your car, beside your bed or anywhere else you spend time.  Meditate and SOAK in the word of God day and night!

This is the first part of our Monday Memorization. And we are also using the colour charts…

GMG Bible Coloring Chart

I need to print this and start doing it.. right after I finish this lot of blog postings!!

I said I wanted to go “Deeper” with the Lord this year and so this is certainly going to help with that wish.

Plus the Christian Art Classes over at http://his-kingdom-come.com/   Have started and I have started the Logos mapping to find my word.. actually I already had the word but I did the paper work anyways.

I am involved in “Take me deeper” and “Logos” and then “Bible journaling” if I can keep up with them all… but this is also a great way for me to dig “deeper” into his word, so I am going to give it a jolly good try!!

So Monday’s will be Motivational.. in some way shape or form!

The end of another year…goodbye 2014…

What a year it’s been! The first half of the year I had my number two daughter and Sweet pea living with us.

The second half of the year I’ve had daughter number one and Squishy living with us.

I love my children and I especially love my Grandchildren, but I miss my art! I am so consumed with babies, and all that they entail that I have not done any art, not much of note, I have so much to do, to finish my “Art Instructors” course and I have just learnt Zentangle so that needs doing, and my penpalling fell off for a little while but happily that is back on track.

In January– We went away camping with long time friends, daughter number one and two grand babies. That was over the “Australia Day” weekend, fun times.

In February, My Husband took me away for a romantic weekend to Brisbane in Queensland, we got a mystery flight so we only found out where we were going a few days before hand, we have been there but we didn’t care it was us flying (I LOVE flying) away to be together. Had a great weekend.

In March– Heralded the Start of “Footy Season” and again I donned my hat as “football tragic mum”

In April– We had an engagement party for one of my nephews and the following weekend we had a roadt trip to Queensland to do some repairs on a friends house. Camping trip loved it.

In May– Nothing special but lots of football matches.

In June– Daughter number two and Sweetpea flew the nest.

In July– I discovered the Lord, we went out for dinner for a friends birthday. Had a date day at the Art Gallery and then lunch

In August– Number one daughter moved home with Squishy, Football Grand-final, we lost by one point!!

In September– My Nephew’s engagement party, great night out.

In October– My Niece had her engagement party, my birthday, Moved Mother-in-law into a nursing home and we went camping.

In November– Still camping for the first whole week.  Zentangle art class, Sweetpea turned one and said farewell to a long time friend. She Who Rambles Salad Challenge

In December– Christmas party at the Nursing home, Squishy turned one, huge birthday party, Christmas and quality time at our holiday place.

November, I started “The Daniel Plan” and to date I have lost 6 kilograms and 12 inches, I am happy about that!

Reading all that it’s been a busy year! Speaking of reading

IMG_0300This is the pile of books I finished,  along with the note books full of notes, and the second bible I brought so I could do bible art in it. This one has the two inch wide margins.

My first piece of Bible art Psalm 139;13 I need to add some colour to it, but I’m scared to ruin it. I since quit that group because it was making me nervous about ruining my beautiful new bible.

IMG_0304This is my “awaiting” to be read pile… sheesh it makes me tired just looking at it, The book about Luther belongs to Pastor Frank, he loans me his personal books, I find that very humbling that he trusts me with his books.

IMG_0306A 90 day devotional study that I want to do, I haven’t booked it in yet, I’m really busy in January. Maybe I’ll pencil it in for April, May and June.

Two more Studies that I just got in the mail, both have 12 lessons.

IMG_0302This is my Bible study folder, which I do my daily studies in with “The Good Morning Girls” group, I am in a Facebook group called “The Heart of Esther” and have just been made Assistant for the group, so already my “deeper” is working! I have different sections in this folder.. the books that concern Men go in one bit, the Books that concern women go in another and the general books which is most of them go into a separate section. This year Good Morning Girls is introducing a different hing we are going to start colour coordinating the scriptures. Monday 5th January “Good Morning Girls” starts back with the Book of Exodus.

So I have a feeling my morning study session is going to get a bit longer.. if I do this I haven’t actually decided yet.

This neat little pile lives by my bed. Each morning and each night, I read the daily devotional in each book and write in my journal. Basically my journal I write in any time, but I always start off with good intentions each morning and do a wrap up of each day before I go to bed, then I know my mind is clear and I am all set for my prayer.

Tonight I am ending the year as I started it, with Sweetpea while her Mum goes out for the night. We did that last year too.. except last year I didn’t feel as tired as I do this year!

Happy New Year to all my friends out there who take time to read my blog, thank- you for reading and I hope you all come back next year for more and I wish you all a very happy 2015!!
