Heart of Esther- Week three, “2 Peter and 1 John”

imageimage

Well, this week we finished 1 Peter and started 1 John.

Monday- 2 Peter 1:19

Scripture ” We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your heart”

application The disciples fully believed God’s word, and he was their light in the night his word made the darkness less.

Tuesday- 2 Peter 2:21 & 22

Scripture- “it would have been better for them not to have known the way of the righteousness, than to have known it and then turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them, of them the proverbs are true “A dog returns to its vomit” and “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud”

Application- When you are in the Lords word, stay there safe, returning back to sin is worse after you know the truth. Slipping backwards is like a dog eating its own vomit or  clean pig returning to her muddy hole.

Wednesday- 2 Peter 3:17 & 18

Scripture- “Therefore dear friends, since you have been forewarned be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by error of the flawless and fall from your secure position. But grow in the grace and  knowledge of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.”

Application- be careful of people speaking false truth, some people think they are speaking the truth but may be speaking a version, only Gods word in the bible is the truth. Be warned to be careful what you believe.

Thursday- 1 John 1:5-7

Scripture- “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus, his son, purifies us all from sin.”

Application- by follow Christs word we are “in the light” (truth) and through that we will have a true, real fellowship with him. If you say you are in the light, you need to prove it by being in the light.

Friday 1 John 2:24

Scripture-  “As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does you will also remain in the son and the Father.”

Application- be wary of lies, stick to the original message which is the written word of the bible, your belief is Jesus is how you will find your way to God. soak up the words as truth.

Saturday 1 John 3:21 & 22.

Scripture- “Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.”

Application- by keeping Gods commands and pleasing him, we will be able to ask him anything and be safe in the knowledge as true believers we will be getting what we ask for Sunday 1 John 4:18

Scripture- “There is no fear in love; but  perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

Application- Perfect love is not fear, if you fear you are not walking in perfect love.

So that brings us to the end of week three. I am still enjoying my studies, I found 2 Peter a bit challenging and some days I had to read the chapter a few times to find any verse I wanted to use as “S.O.A.P” the Old me would have said “too hard” and skipped ahead or even given up, so when I found myself re-reading and making more effort to find something to work through, I felt pleased with myself for sticking with it.

Its been a busy week and so I have not painted a John yet, maybe I will do so this week. Speaking of this week here is what we are doing…

Sunday– 1 John 4

Monday– 1 John 5

Tuesday – 2 John 1

Wednesday– 3 John 1

Thursday – Jude 1

Friday– Psalm 1
