Arty stuff

Today is day 18 of #the100dayproject.

I’ve been pretty slack with my art this year, so l decided to go for the challenge and l made it fairly loose, “create something for 100 days” but l know me and l know l’d go to the studio and sit there and think “What shall l make?” Which would probably lead to me making nothing and so l sat down and broke the challenge into 10’s.

I called them “Weeks” until l realised there are NOT in fact 10 days in a week… not one of my brighter moments!

Then out of the 10 NOT weeks l chose subjects like “Chakra and Yoga Symbols” there are seven chakras so l added three yoga paintings as well. That was my first “Not a week” series.

This “Not a week” series is “Collages” so l went a step further and broke it down into five subjects and l’ll make two of each. So last night l made “multi coloured collage” that was the second one today l made one of “Stamped images”

Multi coloured Collages
Stamped images collage

I am going to use both of these pieces in an upcoming “Not a week” series.

This was the collage that started it all off! My daughter got the idea on Facebook and we ran with it! It looks great framed on the side dresser.

And last night while l was thinking about “What shall l create?!” I made a video of my art studio..

So l can honestly say l am enjoying #The100daychallenge its getting me back into my studio and keeping my mind active!!

September 9- Nearby

Nearby…

“I spy with my little eye,

Something that’s close, its nearby”

I looked around the room to see,

What trick she was playing with me.

“Is it the cat?” I asked with a grin,

Thinking how easy I could win!

“No Grandma it’s closer than that!”

Hmmm, I wondered, “Is it my hat?”

She shook her head and giggled then

“Go on Grandma! Guess again!”

I glanced around the room to spy,

What she was seeing with her hazel eyes!

I guessed the fridge and pantry too

But no- none of those would do!

“is it Ambrosia the poodle dog?”

“Noooo” she groaned “Silly Nog!”

I’m running out of guesses fast,

But cheeky Miss wants the game to last.

So I guess a few things more,

“is it the window or the door?”

She shakes her head in such delight,

I’m sure I could guess, but I think I might

Concede defeat and let her win.

And so with a sigh I sadly say-

“This is a hard game to play!

I give up, I cannot see

Something that is close to me,

Something that is nearby.”

She giggles and puffs her chest out proudly

Stands up tall and calls out loudly.

“Silly Grandma it was me! I am nearby!”

And I know I’ll love her till I die!

Although technically I did not sketch, I did fill up a page of my sketchbook… so whatever its done now!

September 3- Waiting….

Waiting.

All my life I waiting- for,

what it is I am not sure.

Every day I feel as though

there’s something more, what- I do not know.

Waiting for Winter to end,

so then comes spring and again

waiting for summer and warm sunshine

while waiting on autumn for colourful times.

Waiting for something to be finished cooking,

spending my time for recipes looking.

Waiting for the washing cycle to end,

so I can hang out a load and start again.

Waiting for inspiration for some art,

waiting on knowing where to start.

what supplies to use today?

Just let loose and have a play!

Seems to me I spend my life,

waiting for something, Oh! I’m a wife!

I guess thats what my job description is-

Maybe I should have stayed a Ms!

#poetember

#sketchaton I’ve always wanted to have a try at painting on one these four season paintings. Clearly I needed more practise lol

And then we have #29facesonjunk todays Coffee Bloke! Is on a recycled coffee box. I am amazed at him! I rarely do men, they’re hard! Not telling you women anything new there! But sometimes I just hold the pencil and go along for the ride, and look what fell out of my pencil today!

I was like “Whaaat?!”

He’s good for me! Clearly he’s not technically perfect but it’s not about perfection for me, its about setting a goal and smashing that goal outta the park! And as one art teacher told us “If you want perfection, take a photo!”

I am SO happy with this guy, no idea who he is I found him on Pinterest!

Two pieces today!

I forgot to tell you in yesterdays post about the newest challenge I am doing. I find when I schedule myself to do something I tend to get them done. So each day in my journal is a check list of things I want to get done at the moment it looks like this….

  1. Bible study 15 minutes (with a little box that I can tick off as its done)
  2. Drawing- 15 minutes
  3. Water- 3 x 800mls= 2.4 litres
  4. 10,000 steps
  5. Shedding the weight Meditation
  6. Read at least one chapter of current book.

So it seems silly to some people but for me if I don’t hold myself accountable I will put these things aside, and so what if I don’t read a chapter of my book? Well, I won’t finish it and then I wont hit my end of the year reading goal “Read 40 Books

Its been said that if you do a thing for 21 days it forms a new habit, so by scheduling these things and ticking them off I am helping myself create new habits. I am so bad at drinking water, so that is an important one. I also track this on my Fitbit app! Shedding the weight meditation I am doing with Oprah and Deepak Chopra, its to help us change our thinking and to shed the weight by shedding thoughts and feelings that are negative and I am enjoying it, but by the time I have time to sit down and do the meditations, sometimes I am sleepy and cant be bothered, but then I don’t want to look at this list before bed and see that I haven’t checked it off! So I force myself to do it, it ends Sunday and I’ve only missed one day which I did the next day anyways! And the drawing reminder, well, research shows that if you do something for as little as 15 minutes a day you improve at that thing, and who doesn’t want to improve their drawing skills? Bible study is pretty self explanatory as well. I do an in home bible study afternoon each Wednesday but if I don’t do any for the other six days its a bit pointless.

So this week I found a new challenge, my Bloke says “She loves a good challenge” its called the “100 days project” and the goal is to chose anything at all, to do for 💯 days and take a photo and post it on Instagram with the hash tag #100daysproject I figured that while I am doing this art course and posting that online I might as well make it a little bit more exciting by making it a challenge!

Speaking of art… today I finished two pieces, both of which I don’t actually love, but I didn’t avoid them, or put them off, or worse still skip them! I did them and I am moving on!

Lesson 13- Teacher- Toni Burt, Subject- Berthe Morisot. It was a collage piece and I felt like I had gone back to preschool, having said that her face turned out really well and I loved that! I called her “Alice the music teacher” because I used sheet music for her dress and hat and the song was something about April!

Work in progress.. I am super happy with her face which was a limited colour palette in pastels.

I lost momentum with her dress and so just gave up.. isn’t that just what some of the impressionists did?!

Then lesson 14- Teacher- Jun Toyama, Subject- Nicolai Fechin. We used charcoal, I don’t actually mind charcoal its messy but its also nice because you cant be too fussy. We were supposed to use a live model, I didn’t and Im not sharing the photo of who it was supposed to be, it’s disappointing maybe I’ll redo it sometime!

I still need A LOT of practise with my angles! But like everything, practise will help me improve!

So thats me for this Thursday! This also means that I am now officially up to date with “Lets Face it” next lesson gets released on Monday, so that means, Friday, Saturday and Sunday I will work on “Soul brush sessions” and “Better drawing bootcamp” both of which are course run by Carrie on her website Artist Strong 💪 both of these course are run Free, so maybe you want to have a look!

I almost forgot to tell you about another challenge on Facebook, its an art group called “Weekend Challenges” each weekend we are given a photo and we have to recreate it as close as we can, or alternatively anyway we want. I’ll probably give that a go tomorrow, watch this space…..

Art- week 12’s lesson.

You know that “Evil inner critic” you know the one!

That voice that is inside you telling you “You can’t do that or this or the next thing” I know I am not the only one who has one. Well I know mine personally, up close and dangerously. I’ve listened to her through out my life and even now she’s dead I still hear her, there are several key phrases she likes to repeat to me, but just lately, and I think mostly it’s to do with my Bible study and councilling I’ve been having, that “Evil Inner Critic” is starting to loose her power!

Now when “She” starts in and starts telling me “You can’t do that!” I am starting (at 50 years of age!) to reply back, “Well maybe I can’t do that but I won’t know if I don’t try!” And by finally talking back to her and then actually doing what she tells me I can’t! I find I am stepping put of my comfort zone and into a whole new level of ME!

Last week was a classic example… with doing the Mary Cassatt piece, I decided to use the real Mary’s face as my model, I know parts of it were wrong, and sure enough in comes “Evil Inner critic” to rudely point out “That chins not right, paint over it and do it different” and then “There’s something wrong with her eyes” and so finally I put my paint brush down and walked away, nope I didn’t argue with her or get upset like in the olden days, I walked away, for quite a few hours, I told myself “I am waiting for the paint to dry” maybe I was and maybe I was running, whatever it worked, because when I went back, I could see what the problem was and I had an idea of how to correct it. In the mean time, I had shared a photo of the piece in Carrie’s group “Artist Strong” on Facebook, and complained how I had ruined her. Carrie replied ” it’s closer than you think” which gave me courage to have another look and see where I could improve it. The best bit about that day was when my cousin who hadn’t known I was using Mary’s face as the model, saw the painting of the Girl in the blue hat which Mary had painted and we were to recreate and the photo of Mary, my cousin asked “Did you take these two photos and morph them into one!” Why yes I did! Which means that my painting must actually have resembled Mary somewhat! I was so excited! It means that someone else had seen what I had set out to do.

So now fast forward to this week, Lesson 12 B was with teacher Tanya Cole another Aussie lady, and her subject was Monet and so in her lesson she wanted us to try and recreate a flower loosely like Monet did his flowers and then to add a portrait of Monet. I felt the prickles of apprehension run down my spine and then I recalled my cousin mentioning the “Morphing” of the two photos in the other lesson, so I wondered if I could do it again. I think, by George, I’ve done it!

Tanya used a hibiscus flower and a portrait of young Monet in a black beret. I like hibiscus 🌺 they remind me of tropical islands, but when I read “Monet” immediately I put him with water lilies. My husband took me and my Mother-in-law on a “Date Day” and we went to see the Monet exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria a few years back, and it was beautifully set up, but I remember that I was so so so disappointed at seeing these famous paintings up close. They were terrible up close, some art is much better from a far, his edges were unfinished and some of the brush strokes were lumpy and messy, I left there disappointed. Then speaking to people and learning about his failing eye sight and the whole “Impressionist” movement I eased up on him a bit. Doing this course has helped me ease up on him a bit more.

Anyways, So I decided to deviate from Tanya’s painting and do my own, Kara tells us to put a bit of ourselves into each piece of work we do. So I did! I painted water lilies and an older I think more handsome Claude Monet, not my painting is more handsome but that Claude was the older he got! So here is my version of week 12 with Tanya Cole and Claude Monet!

He turned out better than I had hoped! The water lilies leave a lot,to be desired BUT its impressionist after all!

Sorry it’s been a while

Here’s a quick update on my art! It’s going amazing! I am so happy with how well it’s going.

Lesson 8 was”Lady of Shallot”Teacher was Deanna Strachan- Wilson. Subject- John Williams Waterhouse loved it!!

I love how sad the Lady of Shallot looks my favourite poem, song and painting.

Next lesson number 9- Teacher Juna, Subject- Rembrandt and we used Charcoal.

I was a little disappointed with how she turned out until l looked at her again the next day. That chin! Beautiful!

Lesson 10- Teacher was Sharon Harkness-Dobler. Subject- Henry Ossawa Tanner, and l copied Henry’s original painting and l had a ball! I love this one!

Henry’s original painting on my computer screen, Sharon’s on the wall in yellow and mine next to it! First time doing a still life!

Lesson 11- Impressionists are here!

Teacher- Kara Bullock, Subject- Mary Cassatt, loves this lesson too and lm going to frame her!

Mary Cassatt l used her face to recreate her painting, happy with how she turned out. I almost gave up!

And then there was lesson 12- Teacher- Lucy Chen, Subject- Matisse we had to do a Fauvism style painting a selfie! Not my favourite!!

I don’t love this but l did it. I’m finding when l push past “I don’t like it” l feel prouder of myself for having done it!

So that brings us up to date on my “Let’s Face it” course!

I am currently away camping in Brim Victoria, we are doing the Art Silo Tour, it’s over a 200 kilometres stretch and the unused unloved wheat silos are being transformed as giant canvases! Here is the Brim one!

I’ll come back tomorrow and post some more of them.

Happy Easter everyone and spare a thought for the reason behind the season. Jesus died for our sins.

This week in art…

I only got two days of art done this week. But l was so happy with what l did.

Lesson seven was Carrie Brummer and she was presenting Dorothea Therbusch, to get into understanding Dorothea’s work Carrie had us do a “Selfie” l don’t even do good “Selfies” with a camera let alone trying to paint myself so l put it off and avoided it and dreaded it. I had promised Carrie l wouldn’t cheat by tracing myself which would have been easier because oh gosh was it hard!

I tried to disassociate myself from the piece telling myself “here is an oblong shape (nose!) then this shape has a round bit and an oval bit (eye)” etc etc but then l would slip and say “Gosh my mouth is a weird shape in this photo” l got to a point where l thought l was done so l asked my husband (Quality control, engineer, design Bloke) “to have a look” he points out in his nicest way that the angle of my cheek was not quite right, so l handed him the pencil and he adjusted that. Then l asked him to look at whatever else and then finally we decided that the eyes were wrong so l rubbed those out and re did that. Then he re did the whole mouth 👄 finally we were both “happy enough” with it and so l decided to colour it. Carrie did hers in lead pencil but l wanted a splash of colour, so here is my version!

Looking at it now l can see errors but considering l was avoiding this lesson lm going to call this done.

Then lesson 8- I’ve been waiting for this one for ages “The Lady of Shallot” teacher was Deanna Strachan Wilson and subject was John William Waterhouse. I immersed myself in this lesson l listened to the song by Loreena McKennit which has always been my favourite and l love the painting too, l was surprised at how easily she fell out of the pencil! I used acrylic paint for this one Deanne used mix media but l was so happy with this step l stopped! So here is MY “Lady of Shallot”

I’m still trying to decide whether to add the written element which l like on Deanna’s version.

I also brought myself a frame and framed lesson number one!

And finally here is my little art gallery. I never put my own art up in the wall but this is my Corner and so here is my gallery!

Arting about.

So this week starts my first week of not having Squishy boy. He’s started childcare in preparation for next week when we are on our Big Lap for two months. So after doing a few bits and pieces and cleaning the house I spent the afternoon doing arty stuff.

I had to finish off my course “Raw simplicity” with  Mindy Lacefield. Click on her name and see the online classes she has on sale. “Raw Simplicity” like its name suggests is going back to basics, so being rustic and not so fussy, seems easy right? yeah, well not for me. I understood the basic idea, and yet I found it hard to stop fiddling. There was too imperfect stuff that I felt like I wanted to fix.. *slaps my own hand*! So I did the last lesson in that class which featured Artist Norwenn Petitbois I’ve seen her name listed in facebook groups and online classes but I had never actually “met her” until yesterday. I loved her class she has a very heavy french accent and her style was fun. she showed me a new technique with coffee filters.

IMG_2662

So “Miss Attitude” evolved from Norwenn’s class.

Then recently I signed up for “Brave Girls University” (OK so I liked the name and my teacher Mindy Lacefield is teaching there, Plus it’s probably the ONLY university I will ever go to) The deal is you pay $29.00 a month and you have access to 100 plus teachers of online classes in many different techniques. So I followed Mindy… slightly stalkerish I know!

Ok at Brave Girls University I found Mindy who is currently teaching one class there which is called “Paint your story”  and comes with this intro… “A nostalgic journey of remembering how to paint with the heart of a 7 year old. Come play with me as we explore art making with paint, oil pastel, watercolor, inks, and other fun media”  So I had spare time I decided to start the class and I’m so glad I did what fun!

IMG_2673

One of our first excersizes was to used “black and white

IMG_2663

This one was called “Make marks” and we had to use different mediums and make marks like we were five years old.. I used my left hand and realized that it’s fun using my non dominate hand and not only that it looked ok!

IMG_2672

“Making Marks” page two… different colours.

This page was about “Symbols” I used a mixture of left and hand and mediums. These pages can later on become background pages for future pieces of art, or as they are in my art journal, maybe they will become references for future pieces.

So today-  Day two of no baby sitting duties I planned to do more of the same but so far I’ve taken Ambrosia back to the vet.. Remember last week I wrote this about Ambrosia going to the Vet. She continues to surprise me, not a tooth in her head and yet she eats everything in sight and never complains, well except today when the Vet wanted to look inside her mouth, but I needed the “all clear” so I can take her to the groomer, her fringe is too long and she keep bumping into stuff, so today she is wearing a pony tail..rather than me hack it off as I usually do.

Her face is messy, she’s over due for grooming and I refused to touch her face because it’s stressing her out. So awaiting the call from the groomer so I can make an appointment to get her prettified.

So this morning as I checked my daily emails I found this one from Tam.. who is over at Willowing…announcing the soon to be open for registration “Life book 2016” as Tam says “the entire year only costs £80 GBP (approx $120 USD)” every year I read this email with excitement and every year I cringe I cannot afford that.. because the Aussie dollar is pretty low at the moment so US $29.00 cost me $34.00 OUCH! So I hate to figure out what US $120 would be in AU dollars! Or worse yet in British Pounds. So I just delete the email and move on… this year I took a different option, I went to the link and shared the link in every available place and NOW also on my blog, in the hope that I can win a place in the course.

Or…. a scholarship! you can click on that link if you want any more details it’s amazing all the teachers and all the work that the “Lifebookers” produce, but I am “just a Grandma” and I get paid in love which in the real world doesn’t have much value for currency!  So if any of you lovely people would like to nominate me for a scholarship for the LifeBook 2016 series, please email Tam..

LIFE BOOK 2016 SCHOLARSHIPS!

Now then, as if I’m not having enough fun already, we are also giving away 10 scholarships!

These scholarships have been made available for those who struggle financially and would not be able to join Life Book without financial support.

How to apply for a scholarship

You can apply for yourself OR you can nominate a friend who you think could really use a course like Life Book in their lives.

Please send us an email on willowing.arts [AT] gmail.com

Email topic title: Life Book 2016 Scholarship Application

And please answer the following questions:

1. Have you (or the friend you are nominating) done Life Book before? (answer would be NO)
2. Why do you think you (or the friend you are nominating) are the right candidate for the scholarship (Pls describe this in approx 50-100 words) ( because YOUR friend needs a break from Grandchildren and some art always helps with the distraction)
3. How do you think you (or the friend you are nominating) will benefit from Life Book 2016? (Pls describe this in approx 50-100 words) (in between looking after small grandchildren it would help her to have some “me time” and learn new skills)
4. What’s your favourite art journal background technique or favourite art supply? (If you’re nominating a friend ignore this question) ( drippage, splatter, layers and water colour washes)
So if anyone wants to nominate me.. I’ve given you a clue for some answers LOL….
and finally for today I must remind you all….. 5 more days to go!! WOO HOO!!

9 days to go… down to single digits..

its getting close now,

I’ve been keeping busy with my #sugarfreeseptember challenge..

Have you heard about it?

#SugarfreeSeptember is run bu “live it do it” I can’t even remember how I found out about it.. but it wasn’t yet September so I decided to join, I find that when I have these motivations I can stick them out better… remember last November I did the “salad-a-day challenge” with Reannon over at she who rambles you can read about my version here. Well I had so much fun with that challenge, so now I am doing this #sugarfreeseptember not as easy as it sounds.. day one was a breeze and I cheered myself.. day two I woke up with the WORST headache, I know that whenever you give up something you have to expect “detox headache” or ‘Sugar hangover” I think I read someone call it….the headache was worse than any I had with all the previous detoxes. So I got up and took a pain-killer for my head and then 35 minutes later vomited that right back up… yesterday was not a fun day. Three occasions I came close to getting a can of coke out of the fridge and somewhere along the way my will power was stronger. I resisted.

Today I woke up much happier and thankful that the headache was gone, my tummy feels a bit rocky though. Never mind, I have not had ANY sugar and that glass a coke of a night, yes I miss it but no I am not tempted to drink it. I am going to stick this out and see if I lose any weight before I have to buy a new dress for Jasmin’s wedding.

So each day we get to take a photo of the above listed item.. today was “Hot drink” I don’t drink hot drinks, but I made myself a cup of Chinese tea just to take the photo, I tried to drink it but yuck!!

Chinese tea… but this is what I had for breakfast!!

Poached Eggs on Vegemite toast (soy linseed bread), Green Smoothie and I didn’t even up drinking the tea!

Then since I was feeling much better I decided to finish some art projects I had going… the “Fabulous and Free Art Journal course” which had finished but I had a few more pages to complete.. you can read more about it here

 Number 28 – Office Supplies.

I’ll be the first person to tell you I am a stationary whore.. I cannot go past a stationary place without going in and finding something and yet I really struggled to do this page.. it’s one of about 3 in this challenge I hated.

 Number 29- Just Beachy

I just splashed some paint around and ripped out some photos from magazines and played with collaging letters to form words.. simple!

 Number 30- Water works.

Same but different from “Just Beachy” quick and easy, tah dah! complete!

Next thing I had to complete was Mindy Lacefield’s course “Raw Simplicity” I won the class back in July, but I’ve been bogged down with other stuff, so I have only just been working on it. Mindy’s style is Primitive and I struggle with that but I do like to push myself out of my comfort zone and so here’s a peek at what I’ve been doing..

Learning to draw and then paint “primitive faces” mine are much to neat and controlled I need to loosen up! oh No, Mindy didn’t say that I’m saying that!

These little sweeties were drawn on “deli paper” I haven’t quite figured out what it is yet and I didn’t have any obviously so I used what I had a “McDonald’s” McMuffin wrapper… seems to me to be the same thing, anyways I love these cuties, and they card stock I used my Gelli Plate to print that and I love them so sweet!! I’m going to frame them one day!

Next lesson was “Primitive animals” again, mine are a bit too neat a bit too much detail.. Oh well.

These were practice ones that went into our art journals.

I had some coloured card left so I mounted them on that.. again drawing them on the Maccas wrappers.

What we were supposed to do with them was…. create a full-page spread and add the animals to that, I should not rush ahead!! So I created a new set of Animals for my “full-page spread” I did an “Aussie themed Spread” with an Aboriginal and a kangaroo and a koala.

I still think they’re too neat and not primitive enough.. but anyways this is in commemoration of our up coming trip!

Next we had to prepare a board and do a whole piece, well I started the board and the painting and then got visitors so I put her away unfinished.. today I finished her.

Look at all that yummy texture! Made with Gesso.

Little ripples and almost waves.

That was a mistake, but it worked so it’s all good..

Finished Item.. I splashed too much paint and couldn’t wipe it all off, so I incorporated it.. and she’s “Spring Goddess”

The Brown line that descends from the corner of her mouth was added by Miz Sweetpea who is 22 months going on 15 yrs! and is determined she is going to be an artist.. I was going to cover it but I think I’ll leave it because then I can say we collaborated on a piece of art. Under the flower on the left you will notice a bit of bright yellow highlighter.. she did that too.. I covered most of it up!

And then there’s…. 29 faces of September.. another challenge.. it was a facebook group last year which I just stayed in and so here is day 3’s piece…

I am very out of practice and this is done with Charcoal and Gesso.

So my started to September has been a busy one and it seems to be not getting any less busy.

Amber has become a Tupperware consultant and is going to training every Monday and holding parties whenever she can. I am so proud of the commitment she is putting into it.. she’s aiming for manager and the car!

Tonight I paid the deposit for the photographer for Jasmin and Brett’s wedding and so that is another thing that I have organised before I go away. Next Monday I am going to visit the venue with the happy couple and Mother-of- the- Groom Anna. We are going to measure for estimations of decorations and such stuff..

and did I mention only 9 days until we leave on “Big Lap WA 2015” I cannot.Wait!!

Art and such…

This week has been a busy one.

I’ve been working on my detox and doing lots of walking.. so I’m happy with that, I have had a few days where I “cheated” and ate something not ‘totally” acceptable, but life is short, to waste time crying over food… so I’m cutting back and cutting OUT a few things and walking more it’ll all work out for the good. I am aiming to lose weight for my daughters upcoming engagement party and then keep on maintaining it for her upcoming wedding.. so I have time to work on these things.

In the mean time… let’s art!!

My daughter has an idea about doing “Squishy’s” bedroom in Harry Potter theme and so she wanted me to do a name thing for his room, so we decided on one panel for each house colour for his name. I enjoyed the challenge, because I had to free hand all the letters and any of the work I did, so it pushed me out of my comfort zone. I painted the cloud Blue, since the roof was already white and they rent so are not able to paint the roof. Then she came back with the panels to paint in the “Harry Potter” house colours. Then when I thought I was finished she came back with the mobile.. so I got that done as well.. I put some of the “Harry Potter” Symbols on the mobile. As well as trying to catch up on the Challenges I’ve been missing out on Irreversibly Moi I signed up for Susan’s email and ended up enrolling in a free art journaling course, we also have a facebook page, and the Prompts are so interesting to me, I am getting better as I go I think.. plus trying out some new techniques along the way like on this cat…

Challenge #18 "Paws"

Challenge #18 “Paws”

I did the back ground in yellow, bronze and white, and I found a stencil that I had brought ages ago and never used it, so I thought I’ll blend the “bronze” down a little bit by stenciling over it in white, then I drew the Cat, and colours most of it white, I had planned to do zentangle inside the cat but when I had a close look, I liked how some of the stencils had left nice marks, these on the body I highlighted in black marker.. I couldn’t ruin it by going over it. I really love my “kitty”

Challenge # 19- "Flower"

Challenge # 19- “Flower”

The prompt for this one was “flowers” and so Susan gives you ideas of how to incorporate the theme into your page.. and I think I got too carried away with this one. I REALLY should have blended it all down a little with a coat of white gesso to quieten down the background.. but I didn’t and now it is what it is.. I LOVE the dandelions though and I will recreate this on a board as part of my “50 by 50” challenge.

But for me the favourite one for today is….”Bewitched

Challenge #20- Childhood TV show

Challenge #20- Childhood TV show

I printed off the TV I used to have one just like this growing up and the prompt was “Childhood TV show” and I used to love Samantha in “Bewitched” so I cut the TV screen out and I painted the rest of the scene and then stuck the TV over the top of it. And I think I nailed the heading.. it looks just like the TV show… except don’t look too closely at Sam’s face I kinda messed that up!
