“Talkative Tuesday”

Since you want me to talk about myself, I think I will combine it with a Journal prompt from my “Digital Journaling challenge” it started the same day as ‘Blogfest’ and so I have kind of being doing both, but not technically using the “Digital Journaling prompts” But when I opened my email today I really wanted to do this one.. I Suck at poetry, but it doesn’t stop me from wanting to try making poems…

Type in your journal today some of the wonderful (or even unusual) things which make you who you are.
Are you a dancer, singer, artist, computer nerd, lover of jazz, a Steelers fan?  Do you like to climb mountains, or hug your surfboard?
For instance, “I am she who hugs trees.” This can be the start of a longer entry, or a repeating theme in a poem.
I am She…
I am She who is always here,
the one who comforts and dries the tears.
I am She who cleans and cooks,
who does the washing and feeds the chooks.
I am She who longs to escape,
to see sunsets and different landscapes.
I am She who loves to camp,
and wander the lands like a homeless tramp.
I am She who writes long letters,
to pals overseas, the further the better!
I am She, I don’t really have a name.
I am She, without any fame.
I am She, a sometimes sibling,
who spends her time happily scribbling,
I am She who reads, writes and paints,
is scared of spiders, needles and complaints.
I am She who journals and writes,
I am She who will do anything to avoid a fight.
I am She who gives anything a go,
I’ve done it all from go to Woah!
I am She who wears many hats,
Mother, Wife, Grandma and  acrobat.
I am She. I am Me.

I didn’t take any photos today, I took a bunch yesterday, so no Sunday Snippets, But I had to write something, so what to write… let me see what my daily prompt is from the “digital journalling Challenge” is..

This series of journaling prompts was taken from day 5… I knew there would come a day when I wouldn’t know what to write so I kept them all..

1.Write about a moment when you dreaded to report for work.

  • When I was working in the Delicatessen in Richmond, it was my first job out of school and our Manageress was a real dragon, her name was Janette and we called her “Dragonette” we had to start work on Mondays at 5;00 am this was before the time of 24 hour shopping, so the store would close Sunday afternoon and we would start 5;00am Monday morning to set the display cases up and have the rotisserie chickens cooked for 9.00am opening. I hated walking around to the store in the cold dark mornings and would have to walk through the neighboring Bakery and then knock and knock until one of the cleaners let us into the Supermarket. I hated walking by myself and I especially hated walking through the bakery.

2.Write about a time at work when you were unable to do what needed to be done.

  • When I was 19 yrs old I went off on my honeymoon for three weeks, I came back to work relaxed and happy with my fresh start, turned up at work for my first day and got the news that I had three weeks to learn everything I needed to know as I was being prompted to Manageress, Well at the start I took on the challenge and thought I could do it but 6 months into the job, I realized that I was not good at ordering people around and being accountable for huge sums of money, I wasn’t enjoying it and there fore dreaded the job, In the end I resigned only to be told they would not accept my resignation, instead they got in a manageress and I stepped down to Second in Charge and we all got along much better after that.

3.Write about how something you do outside of work has helped you perform better at work.

  • Now I don’t work but I realized that back then my biggest attribute was “the customer is always right” and “keep the customer happy” and “Treat the customer how you would like to be treated” I still hold on to those values.. taught to me by “Dragonette”

Journaling Journey

http://www.easyjournaling.com/30-day-digital-journaling-challenge/

Journaling Journey is the name of a Facebook group that I joined a long time ago, every so often I check in and get some ideas for journaling prompts. I “used” to think that prompts were cheating but then in an art course I was doing we were given writing prompts as well and I discovered I really love them, especially on those days when nothing terribly exciting is happening at home and I have nothing to write about.. I’ll dig out a prompt and away I go. So imagine my delight when I see Nathan post in that group about a 30 day “digital journaling” course he is running for the month of October.. and guess what else? it’s FREE!! My price!

I’ve put the link up the top of this post so you can go and have a look at the course and possibly join, no it’s not too late it will start from Day one whenever any one wants to sign up, so no catch ups or rushing required.

WHAT IS THE DIGITAL JOURNALING CHALLENGE?
  • motivation, tips and tools for digital journaling
  • absolutely free
  • see if your keyboard can offer peace of mind, passion, clarity and purpose!

So watch this space because this is where I will be doing my digital journaling, some of it at least, I will check in here and write little updates as I can. I also signed up for Diaro a free App that I can use to do my journaling on so I am not sure yet which I’ll play with. I revitalized this Blog with this challenge in mind so we shall see, come back and check in..

Do you Journal?

  •  Yes! I have several journals, my main one sits on my bedside table and I write in it several times per day.
  • Camping Journal which I called ” The Adventures of Tamara Tent” and I add all the info, weather, distance traveled, fuel stops, weather, camping sites, I add feathers, receipts, stickers, all kinds of stuff, even tree bark!
  • Jelly baby Journals- One for each other my Grand children, life from Grandma’s point of view, my idea with these are to have them printed and bound into books for their 21st birthdays!
  • Bible Journal- two actually, one is in a pretty note-book where I do all kinds of female stuff like “wives of the bible” series and “Husband encouragement challenge” all female related stuff. The second one is an A5 ring binder which has tabs for different bible studies, so when I am doing my bible studies on “females” I have a divider page called “women of the Bible” and when I am doing Men like the Apostles I use “Blokes of the Bible” and then regular “bible studies” for the other things.

Do you hand write or digital journal?

  • Currently I am hand writing my notebook journal but looking forward to starting digital.

Do you add “stuff” to your journal? art, fliers? ticket stubs?

  • When my husband and i have a “date day” I will add the tickets, fliers, receipts, serviette/napkin, even a drink coaster, lots of stuff gets stuck in I have “lumpy” journals. Sometimes I even stick in a plastic ziplock bag to hold more stuff.

Why did you start journaling?

  • I was going through a rough patch in my marriage an older lady had just written her memoirs and published them for her children, and I was very blessed to be offered a chance to read it, who would have thought that this lovely little old Grandma had led such a thrilling, terrifying, exciting life? to look at her not me! we spoke about her writing and she said to me “start writing now, don’t stop and you have something important to say” So I started from the earliest memory I could think of and wrote and wrote and I have never stopped. So many pies of notebooks.

How old were you when you started?

  • I was turning 30

Now it’s your turn if you want to play along, simply copy the questions and answer into the reply box, can’t wait to hear from you.
