NaBloPoMo– Habits.. One book?! say it isn’t so!

If you had to read the same book year after year after year, what would it be?

If you asked me this last year I would have said “Gone with the Wind” I love the book, I love the history and I just love all of it.

but then In July last year I discovered the Bible, and Jesus, and began doing Bible studies and reading different bits, the challenge I had previously with the Bible was that I would pick it up and “attempt” to read it cover to cover… I never got far and always threw it away… and then I had a good Christian friend who explained to me “oh NO! you don’t read the Bible like a normal book” OHH.. “OK so how do I read it?” those seven words changed me! Because her answer was so thorough and helpful (Oh and I was trying to read the “wrong” sort of Bible, you know the ones with “thee, thou, shalt” etc ect, so she suggested NIV and start from there,) I brought myself a pretty little green bible and then I was too scared to mark the pages.. in my next letter from my pal I received a hand written sheet with verses and chapters to read for different things, and THAT begun my love affair with the Bible and the stories it held within. I have read a portion of it every day twice a day since then!

Along came “Good Morning Girls” with Courtney’s challenge to “Read the Bible in a year” so I signed up for that and have been working on her plan ever since. I know I have read some parts of the bible in other studies because the pages are highlighted (EKKK you HAVE to write in the Bible it’s mandatory.. that was a hard lesson to learn!!) but then I read it again in context to what I am studying and it seems to read differently.. so I am still learning from stuff previously read..

That is why if I can take ONLY one book, (and even typing that makes me feel nervous!!) I would choose the Bible.. as long as I could have my highlighters and crayons to colour code!!

NaBloPoMo December is Joy…Prompts…

DecemberNaBloPoMo2014-JOY

Friday, December 19, 2014
Audrey Hepburn said, “If my world were to cave in tomorrow, I would look back on all the pleasures, excitements and worthwhilenesses I have been lucky enough to have had. Not the sadness, not my miscarriages or my father leaving home, but the joy of everything else. It will have been enough.” Do you think you would do the same, or do the sad times stand out in your mind?

At this point in my life the good far outweighs the sad, the older I am getting the more I find I am letting go of the sad and the bad and only remembering the good. Whenever we go somewhere or do something I take lots of photos, it’s just what I do, so I have many good things to look back on, rather than take photos of the sad things. PLUS I really believe that you have to sometimes have the sad and bad to appreciate the good and the happy. If you don’t experience the sad how could you grow as a person?

2015 is looking good…

Many new challenges coming up..

there’s this one for health.. http://simplegreensmoothies.com/30-day-challenge

Here’s one for my mind…  http://meetmeatmikes.com/2015-a-year-of-australian-writing/

australian-writing

Mike says…. My version of A Year Of Australian Writing will go something like this:

I do solemnly swear to read as many Australian authored books, blogs and articles as I can over 2015.
I’m going to swear off all non-Australian fiction, just for 12 months. (I’ll catch up on those books in 2016!)
I will detail the books and things I read here on my blog (and also on Instagram under the #ayearofaustralianwriting tag).
I will regularly give away ace examples of Australian books on my blog.
I will interview interesting people about their favourite Australian writers.
I will interview Australian writers too, if they will let me.

Perhaps you would like to join in too?

+ I’ve created a Good Reads group here so we can share the books we like or are reading more easily.
+ You can follow and chat along with my posts next year, right here on this blog too.
+ Also, you can add a button to your blog – find those here. Download a button in your favourite colour and then link back to this post so people can work out what we’re doing (and maybe join in too!)? Cool!

Another health one…kind of it’s food related… from Reannon over at http://shewhorambles.com/2014/12/09/the-year-of-new-recipes/

Blogging through the bible.. Good morning Girls.

  Spiritual Sunday

I’m bacckkk!! I had this planned so well I was going to have this all up to date last week.. well we all know how that went with the Gastro bug that got my whole family and all.. so once again I am behind.. *sigh* Do not despair.. I will catch up to date this week and then this week is the last “Official” week for Blogging and Advent studies. both complete for the year on 19th December. Of course not me.. I will continue to study, I am planning to catch up on some reading and do Sharon Jayne’s “Power of a Womans words” Study, you can learn about it here: http://sharonjaynes.com/the-power-of-a-womans-words/

I have had the book sitting here for a few months but I have been so engrossed in my other studies I didn’t get to start it yet. I am also going to start a “Book” page where I will feature books I am reading or have read and do a little book review and let you all know who I thought. In the next few days I’ll do a recap on all the Bible studies I have done this year and I am so proud of myself for taking them on and not only that actually learning things from them. If you’ve read any of my previous “bible study” posts, you’ll know I have only been doing this “Walk with the Lord” since July 1st and so I have immersed myself in lots of things to soak up as much as I can.

The-Book-of-Psalms-300x253

Monday– Psalm 13:3 & 4

Scripture- “Look on me and answer, Lord my God, give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death, and my enemy will say “I have overcome him and my foes will rejoice when I fall”

Application-

  • David is asking the Lord for enlightenment and he is suggesting his enemies will celebrate when he fails.
  • If I do not seek the Lord’s enlightenment then when I am eternally dead my enemies will rejoice
  • So like David I am asking the Lord for enlightenment, open my eyes to your word so that I night have eternal life with you.

Tuesday- Psalm 14:5 & 6

Scripture- “But there are they, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous. You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the Lord is their refuge.”

Application-

  • When you are overwhelmed or stressed, go to God, give him all your worries.
  • Be rich on Gods word and the rest will sort itself out ( I am hearing this message multiple times over the past week)
  • If you do what is righteous God looks down over you with favor.

Wednesday– Psalm 15:2 & 5.

Scripture- “The one who walks is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart. Who lends money to the poor without interest, who does not accept a bribe against the innocent. Who does these things will never be shaken”

Application-

  • David was inquiring of the Lord “Who may visit your tent or climb your mountain?”
  • “The one whose walk is blameless: ( who follows all of the Lord rules)
  • The one who does not accept bribes who does these things will never be shaken ( from Gods word)

Thursday– Psalm 16:4-6

Scripture-  “Those who run after other Gods will suffer, more and more, I will not pour out libations to such gods or take up their names on my lips.Lord you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen from me in pleasant places, surely I have a delightful inheritance.”

Application-

  • Those who serve and follow false gods will suffer for the privilege,
  • There is but ONE God, wasting time following other gods will not keep peace in your heart or keep your lives secure.
  • One God is all I need to keep me sustained.

Friday- Psalm 17:5-8

Scripture- “ My steps have held to your path; my feet have not stumbled. I call on your, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer. Show me the wonders of your great love, you who saves by your right hand, those who take refuge in you from their foes. Keep me as the apple of your eye hide me in the shadow of your wings.”

Application-

  • This is a prayer from David to God. David is laying out all his good points to the Lord.
  • When we walk with the Lord and believe in our hearts, we are righteous enough to be able to call on the Lord to hear our prayers.
  • God serves those who believe and shows us his wondrous love.

Weight-loss Wednesday..

weightloss wednesdays

http://www.danielplan.com/

81PPS3lgpHL._SL1500_

So this week, let’s work on “Focus” because I lost some of mine last week.

One of the most powerful tools to keep you on track with The Daniel Plan is your journal.  Tracking your results keeps you focused and in tune with your progress.   One of the primary reasons why people don’t succeed at losing weight and getting healthy is because they neglect to track their food intake and daily habits.

Research shows that keeping a food journal DOUBLES weight loss in just 10 weeks and helps you maintain your ongoing achievements. Describing your journey in a written format will help you stay focused on your goals and gives you a record of your progress to help you stay motivated and use that momentum to keep moving forward.

Perks To Keeping a Journal

  • Carefully thought out goals that are written down are powerful.
  • Keeping yourself accountable is directly tied to success.
  • Writing down everything that goes into your body makes you conscious, aware, and more likely to do the right things (avoiding food amnesia)!
  • Keeping a journal lets you see your progress. Often progress in one area will spill over and create positive impact in another area. Before you know it, you will be a new person.

It All Starts With Setting Goals
Before you start journaling, make sure you set goals for yourself. These goals should be:

  • Specific: goals are clear and distinct.
  • Measurable: emphasizes the need for tangible benchmarks.
  • Attainable: goals need to be realistic.
  • Relevant: goals that matter.
  • Time-bound: stresses the importance of attaining the goal within a certain time frame.

Setting these goals will help your brain help you make it happen!

Track Your Daily Habits

Eating right is only part of The Daniel Plan. Getting more physical activity, doing mental exercises, changing negative thinking patterns, reducing stress, knowing your numbers, getting good sleep, taking your supplements—these are all important aspects too. If you want to get the most out of The Daniel Plan, you need to track your daily habits and keep track of how your are doing in the 5 Essentials: Faith, Food, Fitness, Focus, and Friends. From the Daniel Plan website..

Last Friday {and please let me add, this is NOT a cop-out this is the truth and I am confessing, you are my witnesses} was my Grandson’s First Birthday. I knew the family were coming over for dinner, as they had two weeks earlier for my Granddaughter’s birthday dinner, but that time I cooked her favorite which is Roast Lamb and all the vegetables, we do not roast with added fats so i knew I was safe and “Daniel compliant” When I asked Daughter number one what to cook for my Grandson’s dinner she suggested “take away” and here the trouble begins. First she said “Fish and Chips” and whenever we have that I have a piece of grilled fish (no batter!) and just a few of the chips… remember I explained to you about the “90/10 rule” (Eat healthy 90% of the time and have fun 10%) So I was good to go with that and felt I was under control. BUT then what did my Darling Daughter do?? (She went out for lunch and had “fish n chips” and didn’t want them for dinner as well) she changed her mind. Now we were having.. wait for it… ,my biggest weakness… P-I-Z-Z-A!! oh and to rub it in a bit more.. Garlic bread and CHIPS!

I can hear you saying… “You didn’t have to eat it!” and you are very right I DIDN’T have to..but I did.. I guess “FOCUS” is still something I need to work on. Confession time- “Bless me Father for I have sinned.. I ate three pieces of Pizza and  a few chipsBUT I did not eat the chocolate cake afterwards!

So I went to bed feeling gluggy (is that a feeling??) I felt stuffed.. wasn’t really a fun feeling. AND I did notice I slept badly too.. my mouth was all fuzzy and I was restless.. I am assuming and I could be wrong, but I am thinking it was all those glutens.

I was wide awake at 5.30 am on the Saturday morning and restless, so I went down stairs and out to the garden, and I spent time conversing with the Lord and had a discussion about snails and what was their purpose on earth besides eating my marigolds and zucchini plants. I got some very good serious work done in the garden, removed an old rose-bush and dug over a huge patch of weeded garden bed, so I felt good because I felt like I had “worked off last nights pizza” so I happily went inside an hour and forty-five minutes later, drenched to the skin and muddy to have my shower.

Saturday was busy as, we went to my M-I-L’s and moved some stuff around, then home again, and my cousin picked me up for our Art class, we timed it badly and were early so we stopped for lunch… Uh Oh… I sinned again… Usually at McDonald’s I would have a salad with grilled chicken and I was happy that I stayed “Daniel Compliant” but for some reason, my stupid mouth ordered a medium Cheese burger meal with coke AND a Kit Kat McFlurry… really? WTF was I thinking?!? and as soon as I got my order and smelt it I really did not want it.

BUT -I -ATE -IT -ALL!!!

We went off to our Zentangle class and it’s in an old convent and silently eerie as I am used to being home with babies all day the silence was most welcomed until my stomach started “Singing” (remember I have not up till that point had any dairy, glutens or takeaways for the previous three weeks!) My tummy was not happy.. and it did not get much better…

Then when I got home Saturday afternoon I put it all down to “The babies birthday weekend” (and I’ll get back on plan Monday everything will be fine!) Number One daughter and Squishy were going out for dinner, so I started decorating for the party the next day, and my Bloke suggested “Let’s go out to dinner, Star Son was away at a friends and Squish and his Mum are out, why should we stay home?” so we took off to the local Chinese restaurant. Chinese is a safe option, lots of veggies, no creamy sauces and lots of freshly cooked chicken, prawns and beef. So that’s what we had. a little bit of everything. I skipped he dessert that came with the “Banquet for two” it was banana fritters and ice-cream.

But back at home, my stomach’s singing got louder and then it started kicking me and finally at about 1.30 am the vomiting started.

I’ll spare you all the gruesome details other than to say, I don’t think I can honestly look at Chinese food again for a while if ever.. IT wasn’t the Chinese food’s fault it was the Gastro that has been working its way through my family.. but the Chinese food was last in and first out and it’s a horrible reminder.

The babies party started at 2.30 pm on Sunday afternoon, I dragged myself out of bed at 1.45 pm, had a shower, got dressed and slide down stairs but oh boy was I ever sick. I put a notice on FB for people to be warned and not to come, a lot cancelled, not enough clearly though!!

I was most worried all week about the “party food” because my daughter was arranging everything it was just my job to prepare it all, and I knew because it’s my “former life” that I LOVED all those foods I was making and would want to eat them, so Sunday was my day I was most scared of failing. Well as it turned out I ATE NOTHING… seriously I could not even keep water down!

By 6;30 pm I was back in bed fast asleep.

So here it is today Wednesday, and I risked a peek at the scales, and was prepared to be disappointed, after eating Pizza, Maccas and Chinese in a 24 hour period. But the scales tell me 70 kilograms!! (154 pounds) which means my witnesses, I am officially down 5 kilograms (11 pounds) in four weeks!! Today is the 10th of December and I started on 10th November. I am very pleased with myself, and I have just 3 more kilograms (6.61 pounds) to go to my goal weight.

I have not done a measure this week, I will check in with that next week. Did I tell you about the fancy wedding I am going to in January? well tomorrow the dress shopping begins! and according to the measurements I have been reading, If I am reading correctly I have dropped a dress size! But I will wait until I get to the shops and confirm that!!

In the Meantime here are some of the GOOD things I ate last week!

NaBloPoMo December is Joy… Pen-pals! and NOT feeling sad.

DecemberNaBloPoMo2014-JOY

I’ve written about Pen pals somewhere in my blog I just know I have and it’s funny because they give me so much joy. On my worst days a letter will come and sometimes I’ll rip it open and read through it and then if I am inspired I’ll reply right away, or I’ll carefully fold it all up and put it away until I have time to dedicate to it.

Some pals you click with instantly and others are a slow drawn out affair, and others still, no matter how hard you try, there’s no connection there.

Through NaBloPoMo, I have found a blogger who was writing about Snail mail… read her post here: http://myantidepressantlife.com/i-love-the-swirl-and-swing/

In the bottom of her post “Lady J” said this “Do you still write letters? What’s your favorite part about sending or receiving them?” So of course I had to reply to that. I wondered if “Lady J” realized what a can of worms she was opening, suddenly everyone wants to be pen-pals with her. I think it’s awesome and I hope that she finds some new life long friends as I have my first pen-pal is in Germany and we are still in touch regularly, We have been pals for 12 years. WoW!! So I received an email from Lady J and I will be sending her mail. I am hopeful that we will have enough in common that we want to write to each other again, because I don’t have a pal currently in the state of Oregon.. maybe soon I will!!

Thursday, December 4, 2014
Who do you like to be with when you’re feeling sad?

Today’s journal prompt is very apt to the Pen-pal discussion, because when I am sad, I take myself away and I write, I usually have time to concentrate on my pen-pal letters, when I am sad I retreat to my bedroom and journal and “get over it” this could also include spending time writing letters because seriously by the time you reply to all the things your pal has written you’ll soon find yourself feeling much better.

I always try to skim over the sad parts, and if the particular pal wants more info she’ll ask me and I’ll tell her but by then whatever made me sad in the first place has ceased to matter so it’s all good.

NaBloPoMo 2014- Day 23- Rambling, I’m tired!!

NaBloPoMo_November (1)

I am really enjoying having to blog every day, as I go about my day I think.. “Ooh that would be a good thing to blog about” or I snap a photo and think “Can I make this into a post for my blog

Last Month I did a 30 day Digital journaling Challenge and Blogtoberfest 2014. Both of those made us blog something, anything each day, didn’t matter what some offered suggestions, few I liked enough to use, I just found the ritual of sitting down and logging on and writing relaxing.

This Month I am doing NaBloPoMo 2014 and “a Photo a day” challenge on Instagram with Fat Mum Slim you can find out more about her here: http://fatmumslim.com.au/  I think Chantelle is my Role Model, she has great blog posts, funny and sad, travel recipes, all kinds of things and I  love to get her emails in my inbox.

photoaday-november

Here is our current list.. the goal is to take a photo a day and upload it and #FMSphotoadayNov.

So that was totally not what I was going to blog about tonight *Laughing* but my mind works in mysterious ways. The bottom line of this story is, read your emails because sometimes a line or a phrase or something someone else is talking about will prompt you to write your own version.

I’m tired, I have had a busy day and my mind rambles when that happens, some time I wonder if doing my blog at night is a good idea. Which reminds me I need to go take my vitamins be right back… So I was on the facebook support group for “The Daniel Plan” and I put an idea out there because I found that I have been having severe mood swings. One minute I am fine then I want to cry and the other night I flew off the handle and went birko at my Star Son because he broke a window that was already cracked. I couldn’t understand why no body else in the house thought it was a BIG DEAL, he broke my house!! So I went away and had a few quiet words with the man upstairs and then it hit me.. “Is the Detox doing this mood swing thing to me?” So I asked the group and the resounding reply was “YES!!!” and then the moderator a very smart lady named Kimberly.. similar name to me! Explained that because we have deprived our body of sugar, coffee, gluten, dairy and whatever else all at once out hormones are going nuts! it’s perfectly normal don’t quit and go get some vitamins… so there came another discussion “what vitamins to buy” I ended up with B complex and a Multivitamin and mineral thing.. So let’s see how we go.. on a positive note I am down two kilos and I am very happy with that!!

Today was a crazy busy day and it’s 10.03pm and I’ve been in the garden digging but that’s for another blog, so remind me to tell you about that tomorrow… I’m off to shower and bed.. sleep well friends.

NaBloPoMo 2014- Day 18- Knackered, whacked, and Pooped! I’m tired!

NaBloPoMo_November (1)

I am tired.

Did I mention I am tired? I think I slept well last night, but what I did do differently today was not have my afternoon nap, and it’s  showing. it’s 7.55 pm and normally if I were this tired I’d drink coffee because I like it and my Bloke makes the bestest coffee and it wakes me up.

BUUUT… I’m on detox and went COLD TURKEY on coffee and sugar and dairy and gluten and nearly my whole life is turned upside down.

Instead of having my afternoon nap I got into God’s word and learnt how to do Verse Mapping… have y’all heard of it? I had not heard of it until I joined another Facebook group called..  https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheWordWorkout/

Here is Angela’s welcome message ” Welcome to “The Word Workout!” Here you will find daily sessions to encourage and help you as you journey to becoming spiritually fit! You will not find a perfect solution for your prayer and study time, but you will be provided some enriching ideas and creative ways to pray, study, memorize and learn the word of God to impact and change your daily life. We all are different and we have individual responsibilities, so give yourself some grace and embrace that this is a journey. Some may take big steps…some may take small ones, but a mini-stone is celebrated just as a milestone! Thank you for joining us here at “The Word Workout” and I look forward to sharing with you as you share with me! LET’S GET FIT FOR JESUS!”

A lady I met in the Journaling Bile Community group put me onto this group and it’s smaller and friendlier. So today Shelly and Angela were talking and mentioned “Verse Mapping” hmm I wondered no harm asking what it is and then Angela linked me up and suddenly I was on you tube learning, and I like it!!

I don’t know how much of it I will do because as anyone who reads my blog knows I am on limited “free time” but maybe some important verses ever now and then would be fun, it sure is colourful.

I attempted to do some zentangling in my journal, but it wasn’t so good and I didn’t even bother taking a photo of it, I’m tired did I mention that?

The Daniel Plan and Salad Challenge Tuesday…

81PPS3lgpHL._SL1500_

http://www.danielplan,com

I am tired today, I know I haven’t had enough water but I am tired.. I am weary and then I get emotional.. I’m tired..

Breakfast– Fruit juice, I had some fruit that was starting to look a bit limp (Much like I feel) So I got the Bloke to drag in the juicer and I juiced a pear, an apple, 8 strawberries and some floppy celery and added a tablespoon of LSA (Linseed, Sunflower and Almond) to the mix. Very yummy. I learnt this trick from the Liver detox diet from Sandra Cabot.

Snack– Some almonds and dried cranberries

Lunch- I attempted to make an omelette.. I have an omelette pan that my Dad gave me a gazillion years ago, but today my mind was wandering and I forgot to spray it with the olive oil, so the omelette stuck and ended up looking like scrambled eggs with tomato, capsicum, celery and mixed beans. it didn’t look pretty but it sure tasted good. Remember no dairy products so I mixed the eggs with water a trick I learnt from BodyTrim.

Snack- Some almonds and dried cranberries (again) they’re yum!

Dinner- The Blokes had spaghetti and my family love my spaghetti, so I was disappointed to miss out but then I remembered another Body Trim recipe Geoff Jowlett told us just because you can’t eat pasta doesn’t mean you have to miss out.. so we steam some finely chopped cabbage and serve that in place of pasta, so I did that on a bed of mixed salad greens and called it “Spaghetti Salad!” YUMMMMMY!!

So another day of great food… not so good with the steps (F..itness) but up on the (F…aith) I learnt how to do “Verse Mapping” (F…un) and I spent two hours playing with that and loved it.. we used John 3:16 as an example.. one I had not previously read! So three of the Five F’s is a good effort!

Blogging through the bible with Good Morning Girls and Heart of Esther… Genesis… Oh LOTS!!

Learning about Noah

Learning about Joseph

First of all I want to apologize because I know some people (Thank you Terri Deiley from Pennsylvania) actually read my Bible study posts… Sorry for the delay in between last posts. We went away camping for a week and had limited internet connection, so I didn’t blog for the time I was away and since I’ve been back life has hit me at full speed.. but I’m going to attempt to do a short update on each chapter…hang on, hold it.. that’s an awful long post.. my last one was Genesis 29.. EEK now I’m up to 47.. that’s 18 chapters, so I’m NOT going to do that!I’ll recap last weeks and then on Sunday night recap this weeks studies. Forgive me for missing so many in between..Sometimes life just gets too busy and I try to juggle and end up missing all the balls Laughing!

Blogging through the Bible

Blogging through the Bible

So right now I have no clue what week I am even up to.. but it doesn’t matter what matters is… I studied every day and I spoke to the Lord every day, I even spoke to him face to face one day at the Abbotsford Convent read about that in this post.. https://kimlhine.wordpress.com/2014/11/09/nablopomo-2014-day-9-abbortsford-convent-and-salads/

Jesus on the Cross

Jesus on the Cross

We had a quiet word and I got a bit emotional… So see, it doesn’t matter what week I am up to what matters is I am having a relationship with the Lord every single day, prayer, studies and quiet time in his word and now The Daniel Plan is working on the body that he gave me

Monday- Genesis 37:21-23

Scripture: “When Reuben heard this he tried to rescue him from their hands. “Let’s not take his life” he said “Don’t shed any blood, throw him into the cistern here in the wilderness, but don’t lay a hand on him” Reuben said this to rescue him (Joseph) from them (his jealous brothers) and take him back to his father.  So when Joseph came to his brothers they stripped him of his robe the ornate robe he was wearing”

Application

  • Reuben managed to save Joseph by throwing him into the cistern, rather than letting the brothers kill him
  • Reuben refused to spill his blood, he’s a good man.
  • The other brothers were consumed by jealousy and were not God-fearing men.

Tuesday- Genesis 38:25 & 26

Scripture- “As she was brought out she sent a message to her father-in-law. “I am pregnant by the man who owns these” She said and she added “See if you recognize whose seal and cord and staff these are” Judah recognized them and said “She is more righteous than I, Since I would not give her my son Shelah” and he did not sleep with her again”

Application-

  • Judah slept with his daughter-in-law who had disguised herself as a prostitute.
  • Tamar asked for a token until payment could be made
  • Tamar arranged for a payment for the “prostitute” not realizing it was his daughter-in-law Tamar.

Wednesday- Genesis 39:19-21

Scripture- “When his (Joseph) master heard the story his wife told him, saying “This is how your slave treated me” he (The Pharaoh) burned with anger. Joseph’s master took him and put him in prison, in the place where the kings prisoners were contained. But while Joseph was there in prison, the Lord was with him, he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warder.”

Application-

  • The Lord was with Joseph ALL the time, so he gave Joseph favor because Joseph walked with the Lord.
  • The Lord knew the truth of the matter with the king’s wife so he blessed Joseph with kindness while he was in jail.
  • The Lord sees people’s hearts and knows them inside and out and he will reward them for their loyalty.

Thursday- Genesis 40:21-23

Scripture- “He restored the Chief cup bearer to his position, so that he once again put the cup into the Pharaoh’s hand – but he impaled the Chief baker, just as Joseph had said to them in his interpretation. The chief cupbearer , however, did not remember Joseph, he forgot him”

Application-

  • Joseph was in the Lord’s favor and so was able to correctly interperate the dreams of the Chief cup-bearer and the Chief baker
  • All Joseph asked in return was that the Chief Cup bearer remember his name, which he did not.

Friday- Genesis 41:25-27

Scripture- “Then Joseph said to the Pharaoh, “The dreams of Pharaoh are one and the same. God revealed to Pharaoh what he is about to do. The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good grains are seven years, it is one and the same dream. The seven ugly cows that came up afterwards are seven years, and so they are seven heads of worthless heads of grains scorched by the east winds, they are seven years of famine”

Application-

  • The Lord favored Joseph by giving him the ability to interperate dreams.
  • This ability lead Joseph to hold a high position within the Pharaoh’s kingdom

Saturday- Genesis 42:6 & 7

Scripture- “Now Joseph was the governor of  the land, the person who sold grains to all the people. So when Joseph’s brothers arrived, they bowed down to him with their faces to the ground. As soon as Joseph saw his brothers, he recognized them, but he pretended to be a stranger and spoke harshly to them “Where are you from?” he asked “From the land of Canaan” they replied “to buy food”

Application

  • These brothers misused Joseph and sold him into slavery, he was testing them.
  • The older brothers did as they were told, went back to their father to bring the younger brother Benjamin.

Sunday- Genesis 43:29 & 30

Scripture- “As he looked about and saw his brother Benjamin, his own Mother’s son, he asked “is this your youngest brother, the one you told me about?” and he said “God be gracious to you, my son” Deeply moved at the sight of his brother, Joseph hurried out and looked for a place to weep. He went into his private room and wept there.”

Application

  • Joseph blessed his own brother from his own Mother upon their meeting.
  • Joseph did not mean harm to his brothers he just wanted a way to meet his brother Benjamin.

{On this day I posted  a question, the first time I have asked the Lord for anything for myself. Reading about all these family reunions I wondered if the Lord had a message he was trying to get through my fat head. So I asked him “Do I need to do more? please guide me in your wisdom” I wrote that at 7.20 am and went about my day as usual, that night we went to visit my M-I-L and God revealed a surprise.. you can read about it in this posting here: https://kimlhine.wordpress.com/2014/11/13/nablopomo-2014-day-13-serendipity-or/  }

Then there was so kind of hiccup, I don’t know what I did, I think I worked over the weekend when we were not supposed to.. but somehow I got ahead of the rest of the group, so I stopped a few days and then I was behind or something.. I got totally lost!!

So Scriptures 44 and 45 have no days allocated to them.. confused yet?? I know I am…

Genesis 44:32-35

Scripture- “You servant guaranteed the boys safety to my father, I said “If I do not bring him back to you, I will bear the blame before you, I will bear the blame before you my father, all my life” Now then please let your servant remain here as my lords slave in place of the boy, and let the boy return with his brothers. How can I go back to my father if the boy is not with me? Do not let me see the misery that would come on my father”

Application-

  • Judah guaranteed  Benjamin’s safety to Israel  so Judah offered himself as a slave in place of Benjamin.
  • This was a test from Joseph to see if his brothers regretted the way they treated him all those years ago.

Genesis 45:7-9

Scripture- “But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt. Now hurry back to my father and say to him, ‘This is what your son Joseph says: God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me; don’t delay”

Application-

  • Because he (Joesph) so believed in God, he put his faith in God’s will and turned a negative situation into a positive one.
  • Now he is using his new God-given talents to help those who hurt him the most FORGIVENESS!!!

So again I felt like this was a bit of a personal message to me about turning a bad situation with my siblings into a more positive one. So I asked him for further guidance. As I was putting away my bible (usually I am so careful because the pages are so thin I hate them creased) and it fell open randomly and there was a highlighted section obviously from a previous bible study and it was on Proverbs Chapter 12 verse 15 and this is what it said

Proverbs 12:15The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice

So Fools and Wise ones.. I am definitely awaiting more advice!!
