September 3- Waiting….

All my life I waiting- for,

what it is I am not sure.

Every day I feel as though

there’s something more, what- I do not know.

Waiting for Winter to end,

so then comes spring and again

waiting for summer and warm sunshine

while waiting on autumn for colourful times.

Waiting for something to be finished cooking,

spending my time for recipes looking.

Waiting for the washing cycle to end,

so I can hang out a load and start again.

Waiting for inspiration for some art,

waiting on knowing where to start.

what supplies to use today?

Just let loose and have a play!

Seems to me I spend my life,

waiting for something, Oh! I’m a wife!

I guess thats what my job description is-

Maybe I should have stayed a Ms!

#sketchaton I’ve always wanted to have a try at painting on one these four season paintings. Clearly I needed more practise lol

And then we have #29facesonjunk todays Coffee Bloke! Is on a recycled coffee box. I am amazed at him! I rarely do men, they’re hard! Not telling you women anything new there! But sometimes I just hold the pencil and go along for the ride, and look what fell out of my pencil today!

I was like “Whaaat?!”

He’s good for me! Clearly he’s not technically perfect but it’s not about perfection for me, its about setting a goal and smashing that goal outta the park! And as one art teacher told us “If you want perfection, take a photo!”

I am SO happy with this guy, no idea who he is I found him on Pinterest!

Blogging through the bible.. Good morning Girls.

  Spiritual Sunday

I’m bacckkk!! I had this planned so well I was going to have this all up to date last week.. well we all know how that went with the Gastro bug that got my whole family and all.. so once again I am behind.. *sigh* Do not despair.. I will catch up to date this week and then this week is the last “Official” week for Blogging and Advent studies. both complete for the year on 19th December. Of course not me.. I will continue to study, I am planning to catch up on some reading and do Sharon Jayne’s “Power of a Womans words” Study, you can learn about it here: http://sharonjaynes.com/the-power-of-a-womans-words/

I have had the book sitting here for a few months but I have been so engrossed in my other studies I didn’t get to start it yet. I am also going to start a “Book” page where I will feature books I am reading or have read and do a little book review and let you all know who I thought. In the next few days I’ll do a recap on all the Bible studies I have done this year and I am so proud of myself for taking them on and not only that actually learning things from them. If you’ve read any of my previous “bible study” posts, you’ll know I have only been doing this “Walk with the Lord” since July 1st and so I have immersed myself in lots of things to soak up as much as I can.

Monday– Psalm 13:3 & 4

Scripture- “Look on me and answer, Lord my God, give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death, and my enemy will say “I have overcome him and my foes will rejoice when I fall”

  • David is asking the Lord for enlightenment and he is suggesting his enemies will celebrate when he fails.
  • If I do not seek the Lord’s enlightenment then when I am eternally dead my enemies will rejoice
  • So like David I am asking the Lord for enlightenment, open my eyes to your word so that I night have eternal life with you.

Tuesday- Psalm 14:5 & 6

Scripture- “But there are they, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous. You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the Lord is their refuge.”

  • When you are overwhelmed or stressed, go to God, give him all your worries.
  • Be rich on Gods word and the rest will sort itself out ( I am hearing this message multiple times over the past week)
  • If you do what is righteous God looks down over you with favor.

Wednesday– Psalm 15:2 & 5.

Scripture- “The one who walks is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart. Who lends money to the poor without interest, who does not accept a bribe against the innocent. Who does these things will never be shaken”

  • David was inquiring of the Lord “Who may visit your tent or climb your mountain?”
  • “The one whose walk is blameless: ( who follows all of the Lord rules)
  • The one who does not accept bribes who does these things will never be shaken ( from Gods word)

Thursday– Psalm 16:4-6

Scripture-  “Those who run after other Gods will suffer, more and more, I will not pour out libations to such gods or take up their names on my lips.Lord you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen from me in pleasant places, surely I have a delightful inheritance.”

  • Those who serve and follow false gods will suffer for the privilege,
  • There is but ONE God, wasting time following other gods will not keep peace in your heart or keep your lives secure.
  • One God is all I need to keep me sustained.

Friday- Psalm 17:5-8

Scripture- “ My steps have held to your path; my feet have not stumbled. I call on your, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer. Show me the wonders of your great love, you who saves by your right hand, those who take refuge in you from their foes. Keep me as the apple of your eye hide me in the shadow of your wings.”

  • This is a prayer from David to God. David is laying out all his good points to the Lord.
  • When we walk with the Lord and believe in our hearts, we are righteous enough to be able to call on the Lord to hear our prayers.
  • God serves those who believe and shows us his wondrous love.

Week One- Hope

Monday- Scripture- John 1:1-4  “In the Beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word WAS God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made;without him nothing was made that had been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.”

  • God created the whole world an everything in it.
  • Without God nothing would be made, God was the light that created all of mankind.

Tuesday- Scripture- John 1:9-12 “The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was the world. He was in the world, and through the world. And though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet all who did receive him, to those who believed his name he gave the right to become children of God.”

  • The “True light” was God coming into the world as baby Jesus.
  • As a Baby the world did not recognize God.
  • God sent Jesus to look like us so that we could hear Gods word.
  • When we believe that Jesus died for our sins, We are being admitted to heaven.

Wednesday- Scripture– Jeremiah 33:14-15 ” The days are coming”declares the Lord, “When I will fulfill the good promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah. In those days  and at that time, I will make a righteous branch sprout from Davids line, he will do what is just and right in the land”

  • The Lord foretold the arrival of Jesus by saying a righteous branch will sprout from David’s line”
  • The Lord rewards those who are loyal and walk with him, “I will fulfill the good promise I made to the people of Israel (Jacob) and Judah

Thursday- Scripture- Isaiah 60:19-20 “The sun will no more be your light by day, not will the brightness of the moon shine on you;  for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end.”

  • By being in God’s word the “sun” and “moon” will cease to shine your light will come from the Lord.
  • You will not have birth and death, instead everlasting life and be free from sorrow when you “Walk with the Lord”

Friday- Scripture- Romans 15;12-13 “And once again, Isaiah says ” The root of Hesse will spring up, and who will arise over the nations; in him the Gentiles will hope. May the God of hope, fill you with all the joy and peace as your trust in him, so that your may over flow with hope by the power of the holy spirit.”

  • Trust is Jesus and your hope will overflow by God-his father.
  • Jesus and our faith in him, brings us hope, joy and peace because we know that by trusting in Jesus we are also gaining God’s love and protection.

Week two- “LOVE”

Monday- Scripture-  1 John 4:7-8 “Dear Friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God, Whoever does not love does not know God because God is love.”

  • Anyone who knows LOVE is from God
  • To know Gods word you must know LOVE to know LOVE you must be in Gods word
  • I am loved I am in God.

Tuesday- Scripture- “One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him ” OF all the commandments, which one is most important?” “The Most important one” answered Jesus, “Is this “Hear O Israel the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength”

  • The most important commandment is “Love the Lord first and foremost”
  • put all your effort into living the Lords word and use your strength to do good and your heart to love him.

Wednesday- Scripture- Psalm 119: 105-106 “Your word is a lamp at my feet, a light on my path. I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws.”

  • Your word is a lamp (Brings light to us)
  • A light on my path ( to lead us to righteousness)
  • Following the Lords word brings brightness (awareness) to our world of darkness.

Thursday- Scripture- Zephaniah 3:17 “The Lord your God is with you, the mighty warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you, in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

  • God is with me, the mighty warrior is by my side.
  • He delights in ME and will celebrate over me with singing.

Friday- Scripture- John 12:35 & 36 “The Jesus said “You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you still have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of the light” When he finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them”

  • Jesus foretold of his own death “you are going to have light just a little while longer” then God takes him home and darkness descends.
  • Believe in Jesus while you have the light so that you might become “Children of the light” (GOD)

Week three- “JOY”

Monday- Scripture- 1 John 1:4-7 “W write it to make our joy complete this is the message we have heard from him and declare to you “God is light in him there is not darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet we walk in darkness, we lie, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his son purifies us all from sin”

  • God is light (truth) in his there is not darkness (Evil) to have fellowship with God one needs to walk in the light (truth of Gods words)
  • When we walk in the light ( Truth) we will have fellowship because Jesus blood cleansed our sins.

Tuesday- Scripture- Nehemiah 8:10 “Nehemiah said “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord, do not grieve for the joy of the Lord is your strength”

  • Share with others less fortunate
  • On this holy day (Christmas day?) do not grieve the Lord is your strength.

Wednesday- Scripture- Psalm 16:11 ” You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures of your right hand”

  • God will make known to us what his plan for our lives is.
  • He fills us with joy by following his wise words and by giving us eternal life by his side.

Thursday- Scripture- Luke 2:10-14 “But the angel said to him “Do not be afraid I bring you food news which will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a savior has been born to you; You will find a baby wrapped in cloths laying in a manger” Suddenly a great company of heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests”

  • Jesus is born in David in Bethlehem
  • Jesus is the savior and messenger of God !
  • God sent himself to earth as human Jesus so that people would be able to hear and understand his words.

Friday- Scripture- Hebrews 12:1 & 2. ” Therefore since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses and the sins that so easily entangle. Let us run with perseverance the race marked for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfector of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame and set down at the right hand of God”

  • Study Jesus’ life and use him as our guidebook, the right way to live, follow his examples up to being crucified and being re-united with his father.
  • Jesus endured much shame, slander, pain all in the effort to be true to Gods word, follow THAT example!

Are you still with me? have you fallen asleep?

I apologize for the length and I promise it won’t happen again, One more week of Blogging with “Good Morning Girls” and One more week of “Advent study” and then maybe a little break.. I’ll let you know..

Salad Challenge… Last day! Recap!

I DID NOT make the above salad I found the image on Google..

So today brings us to thirtieth of November 2014, which means the end of the #SWR30daysofsaladchallenge

I have really enjoyed this challenge, and found myself eager to make my daily salad and thanks to the gorgeous weather, sometimes two a day! It also brought up the challenge of finding a salad I could eat (Due to my The Daniel Plan) while out shopping or out of the house. KFC and McDonald’s helped there.

So here’s a pictorial recap on some of the Salads I made, (I printed off recipes to make some ‘exotic’ ones but never ended up doing that!)

Hmm, for whatever reason I only have 24 photos… Friday lunch I was so hungry I ate half of the chicken salad wrap before remembering to take the photo, so no pic for that the others I must have deleted.. but rest assured I’ve checked in each and every day!!

So Have I learnt any lessons?

  • Challenges are fun, and keep me on track.
  • Most people were interested in what I was doing.
  • New Viewers came to my blog and instagram it’s all in the #
  • I enjoyed the challenge of finding a salad in places I would not normally have thought to look.
  • I lost at least 3 kilos I’ll check into tomorrow, (Monday) with my official weight loss for #The Daniel Plan

Would I do it again?

  • Absolutely!!

You can read the original post here: https://kimlhine.wordpress.com/2014/10/27/blogtoberfest-2014-day-27-wedding-plans-10000-steps-and-salads-galore/

So from now on it’s

  • Spiritual Sundays (I just made that up) This is when I will update y Bible reading plans and my lessons from studies I am doing, makes sense since it’s Sunday and we go to Church on Sundays.
  • Motivational Mondays– Because let’s face it no one likes Monday.. I wonder if we would like Monday more if the weekend started on Tuesday and Wednesday?! Poor Monday.. support for Monday please! Personally I like Mondays because it means all the family piss off and leave me alone.. off to school off to work off to their lives and leave me with mine AND ” The Daniel Plan catch-up”
  • Tuesdays of texture It’s on day a week.. might help my blog become more readable. We get to mess around with photos of texture.. I can do this like Bricks, or dirt, or bark or beach sand or beach shells or my favorite tree! Hey I’m giving away all my good ideas!  This Lady can’t go past a patch of Moss without taking a gazillion photos of it.. and here I was thinking I was the Only ONE!! Find out more here: http://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_event/tuesdays-of-texture/
  • Weight-loss Wednesday (I just made that up) I’m going to tell you all about how my weight-loss, Daniel Plan and recipes etc are going.

Okay, so that leaves Thursday, Friday and Saturday.. does anyone want to suggest topics for those days?

Blogging 101.. WordPress course I signed up for.

I sign up for these things and generally forget them, but I have been saving them in my inbox so I could come back later and go over them.. so today’s email says:

{It’s time to leave the confines of Blogging 101 to seek other opportunities (blopportunities?). From weekly iPhoneography challenges to monthly flash-fiction events, blogger-hosted events are fun, free, spirited ways to get even more feedback on your work, build your audience, and make friends.

Today’s challenge: pick a blogging event from the Community Event Listings to try for some instant community.

Why do this?

  • Events introduce you to a ready-made community, where it’s easier to find new fans and new favorite reads.
  • Events and challenges are a great way to get inspired and motivated — others establish and host the event, so all you have to do is participate! No heavy lifting required.

Take a look through the event listings: you’ll find photography and visual art events, writing events, niche events (such as travel and food events), and one-time challenges. Use the drop-down menus to sort by type of event or topic. Find one that’s a perfect fit, or use this as an opportunity to try something new. The listings are continually updated with new events.

You can also use the Reader to search — try “events” or “challenges,” or get more specific. Look for photo challenges, poetry events, recipe challenges — whatever your blogging angle is, someone’s running an event. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by options, try our weekly photo challenge.

If you find an event you think’d be great for other 101 bloggers, let us know in The Commons.

Happy blogging!}

So off I went like an obedient puppy and had a look at the “event listings

Uh OH… “big mistake.. HUGE mistake” to paraphrase Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman!

Because now there are lots more challenges for me to do.. I wonder how I’ll fit my life in?!?!

So here’s what I am signing up for so far…

Motivational Mondays– Because let’s face it no one likes Monday.. I wonder if we would like Monday more if the weekend started on Tuesday and Wednesday?! Poor Monday.. support for Monday please! Personally I like Mondays because it means all the family piss off and leave me alone.. off to school off to work off to their lives and leave me with mine. Anyways find out more about Monday’s at: http://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_event/motivation-mondays/    Motivational Monday comes with its own badge! badge-for-motivations-monday1

Tuesdays of texture- It’s on day a week.. might help my blog become more readable.

This next one is a once a month thing… I will need to somehow keep track of this.. like in my daily planner LOL

Photo Blogging challenge Listed at the first of the month, you have all month to take FIVE photos of the Challenge prompt. Then on the last day of the month you post your challenge. Find out more about that here: http://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_event/photo-blogging-challenge-pbc/

That ought to keep me busy for a while, and hopefully make my blog postings more fun for people to want to read.

Oops.. found one more.. this is a personal favorite, I am ALWAYS taking “signs” photos…

{I would like to challenge you to take pictures of signposts and post it in a blog post. Title the post: Are we there yet? and add a photo of a signpost. To make it more fun please add your country and more or less where this signpost is. Please add a link to this page in order for others also to find this page and be part of the fun. If you would be so kind as to post a link to your page in my comments box it will be appreciated. Then I can see your great post as well. I will post the top 10 signposts every Sunday on my blog. I am excited to learn more about other countries and cultures. For the first week there is no theme. Just post any signpost that you see.}

Okay… no really that has to be enough.. I am STILL doing Fat Mum Slim‘s “Photo a Day Challenge” here is the December list…

Plus on Sundays “Biblical Sunday” – I will still be updating my Bible Studies because I know a few people read those.

OH! And I forgot.. duh how could I forget! I signed up for another month-long challenge with NaBloPoMo.. December is all about JOY! I am hopeful that I can find some and take some photos of it to blog about..

I am exhausted thinking about this… if it gets too much I can quit.. but if it doesn’t this blog will be hopping!! Come back and find out more!!

NaBloPoMo2014- Daniel Plan and detox…

NaBloPoMo_November (1)

Today is day one of the Daniel Plan and its the first day of detox. Its proving hard.

I keep wanting bread (Not allowed to have it right now) and the no coffee deal has left me tired and with the worst headache.. But I have done detoxes before so I understand that this is all part of the process.. So here’s how my day went..

breakfast- smoothie made with Banana, strawberries (4) a cup of Almond milk, a few ice cubes, two tablespoons of chocolate protien powder and one of LSA (Linseed, Sunflower and Almond) it was yummie-ish..

lunch- salad with some ham

afternoon- slipped up my son made banana muffins at school and he wanted me to try it so I did.

dinner- salad with chicken burger.

plus my bloke who would normally make me an after dinner coffee, instead mademe Chinese red tea.. Yum!

but then he also made me a piece of cheese cake… So I have messed up day one, day two is looking better though!

She Who Rambles Salad Challenge

Remember this challenge? Here’s the original blog I wrote about it…

Then finally..Reannon over at “She Who Rambles” http://shewhorambles.com/2014/10/27/a-challenge-of-sorts/  For Reannon’s challenge we will be using the #swr30daysofsalad

Has come up with a new challenge.. she is going to “eat a salad every day in November” I can join this challenge AND keep to my Daniel plan eating healthy at the same time.. So I have put my hand up for THAT challenge. November is going to be a huge month.

The first week of November the boys and I will be away camping, we leave 31st October and back 8th November. we are heading over the border into New South Wales to “Wentworth” the first night and then onto “Menindee Lakes” the second night for the rest of the time. Last year we went there camping and had the most enjoyable time.. yep we’re going back!!

So I will be doing my “Salads” from there, I hope I have internet!!

Well I am proud to say that I was able to follow along while we were away, and I ate salad every day sometimes twice, even fruit salad.. I’m pretty sure that counts.

Here are some of the salad.. and yes we were camping so limited resources but it’s salad.. now I am home and can go shopping watch my Salad repertoire expand..

Hmm.. I can’t find the others but they are there and I am proud of me for keeping up! So I’ve printed off some recipes to try and tomorrow I am off shopping watch this space!!

NoBloPoMo 2014- Day 3- To Gaol, the Doctors and fishing we will go!!

NaBloPoMo_November (1)

Written at Darling River, Wentworth New South Wales..

Day 4 of our camping adventure.

Today Rob woke up with, actually he went to bed with a sore hip and woke up with a much worse one, so todays mission was find a Doctor!

So off we went into town to the Information center and asked for the nearest Doctor, we also brought a sticker for the trailer, every where we go camping we buy a sticker and put it on the trailer inside of the lid. I also buy a tea towel and postcards (did that later at the newsagent.)

The first doctors rooms had no vacancy but the lovely receptionist rang the other Doctor surgery and they were able to fit Rob in at 11:30am so that gave us about 40 minutes, we spent that time very wisely at the old Wentworth Gaol looking at the cells, and trying on shackles and taking photos and enjoying that part of history, the guy remembered we had been in yesterday. It cost $20 for all of us but it was a nice step back into history. You could even go into some cells and shut the door, that was a little creepy.

After the Doctor we had to go to the Chemist and get Rob some pain killers and anti inflammatories so that was good, we did a quick shop for the latest lot of foods, the trouble with this little fridge is we don’t fill it up too much, so shopping for meats daily is easier and this town is so friendly and reasonably priced we don’t mind shopping local.

Back at camp salad lunch, used the left over roast chicken and a splash of fresh lemon juice. We’ve been having two salads a day, so I’m up with that challenge, and. A photo a day challenge on Instagram with FatMumSlim.. #FMSphotoadayNov todays photo was to show “weather”

We spent the afternoon catching up on the camping journals, adding the photos of places we’ve been a little snippets from the local touristy guides and news papers. Then I managed to get one pen friend letter written to my good friend Terri in Pennsylvania, I had previously brought 10 postcards so I included one to Terri. I was busy writing away and then fish kept jumping onto our fishing rods and I kept having to put down what I was doing and go reel in my fish (I caught three today) or take photos of The Bloke and the Star Fisher Boy with their fish, we caught carp, Fisher boy got 6 today, takes his total up to 10! Rob caught two! And we also cooked and ate the yabbies we caught yesterday!

Dinner was another salad with chicken strips and a baked potato cooked in our fire pit, and as I type the Bloke is roasting marshmallows over the fire-pit. The sunset tonight was glorious, pinks and reds and splashes of purple, and just now, a little visitor has dropped by to visit a wide eyes possum awoken from her slumber.

As for us, the mozzies are starting to eat me alive and so I am ready to lock myself in the tent and read my book! OH!! At the local Second hand shop today they had books for 50 cents each!! Bargain!! I got two, to use up my loose change.

{Digital Journaling} She Who Rambles… Salad Challenge..

Another Challenge

Another Challenge

In my last Post I mentioned briefly about Reannon over at “She who rambles” I found Reannon (sounding slightly stalkerish here!) on facebook because someone had posted a photo of a cake that Reannon had sent to her friend who had recently lost her brother to suicide. Reannon’s cake made me laugh but it’s not a laughing matter but then I had to check her out to see who would send such a cake and I realized that Reannon and I think alike. Anyway below is the link to Reannon’s blog and also a recap of what I posted earlier..

Then finally..Reannon over at “she who rambles” http://shewhorambles.com/2014/10/27/a-challenge-of-sorts/  For Reannon’s challenge we will be using the #shewhoramblessalad

Has come up with a new challenge.. she is going to “eat a salad every day in November” I can join this challenge AND keep to my Daniel plan eating healthy at the same time.. So I have put my hand up for THAT challenge. November is going to be a huge month.

So I decided that since I am doing the “Salad a day” challenge with Reannon and we have a hashtag #shewhoramblessalad I would do my challenge on here as well and so I started a new category as well, because let’s face it.. it’s nicer when things are all together and working neatly. Or am I turning OCD like Gail suggested?! EEK!

So I got busy at Pinterest (I had pies in the dinner cooking at the time and no babies so it was quiet!!)

This was listed here: http://cincyshopper.com/snickers-salad-recipe/            under salad….

Snickers Salad Recipe

12 Snack Sized Snickers Candy Bars Chopped into Bite Sized Pieces
5 Medium Sized Apples Chopped
1 Instant Vanilla Pudding Pack (the small box)
1/4 Cup Milk
1 Container Cool Whip (8 oz)
Caramel Ice Cream Topping to Drizzle

Snickers Salad Recipe

Fall always has me anxious for any recipe that includes apples, caramel or candy. This Snickers Salad Recipe has all three. This momma is on top of the world this evening as I enjoy all this yumminess.  The nuts and caramel mixed with the apples and “Cool Whip are to die for”. This is one of those recipes you just can not leave the bowl unlicked. Snag all that bargain candy and whip up a delish salad.

In a Bowl Whisk your Pudding Pack (dry), milk and Cool Whip until incorporated
Add in Chopped Apples
Add in Chopped Snickers
Place in a large serving dish
Cool in Refrigerator for about 1 hour
Add a few pieces of Snickers bites on top
Drizzle chilled Caramel Apple Topping on top.

Not sure which part of my “Daniel Plan” I can eat this… but I think it should go down as “Novelty Salad” for one day at least!

30 day digital journaling has begun…

Last week I think it was I mentioned that I was taking part in a 30 days Digital Journaling challenge.  http://www.easyjournaling.com/

Well it started 1st October and so today is our third day.

So far so good except.. I am not happy with any of the online Apps I am using.

I started off with Diaro, and the users offered us an upgrade to Pro for the members of the challenge.. trouble with it is its on my phone (Android) and I don’t want to journal on my phone. So I uploaded it to my iPad, it won’t let me have “pro’ but that’s OK, I was ale to do a started post, and it seemed OK. So when the challenge started I went onto Diaro to do my first journal prompts and I got half way through typing and it shut down.. hmm, rebooted it all and it did it again, third time I gave up! So I did the first days Journaling prompt on the word doc on my iPad.

Day One– Some simple journal prompts..

  • What benefits are you hoping to experience?
  • If you’ve kept a journal before, how has journaling been helpful to you in the past?
  • How would you like journal writing to help you in your daily life?
  • What issues do you think journaling could help you solve?

Plus if you didn’t like those you get an alternative one..

Today’s Alternate: How do you usually make your new habits successful? When is the last time you started something new and found that it really paid off? What obstacles did you encounter, and how did you navigate them?

Day Two- The journal prompts were from Julie Platt

“The Journal Writer’s Handbook,” Exercise 14, Chapter 4, “Diving In”

To be very honest I did not do this exercise my days are too busy with Grand baby to push my luck long enough to do anything like meditation.. but the alternate question was interesting by Dolly Garland, Kaizen Journaling. So I decided that since I don’t like the Apps and have yet to find anything I do like, I emailed myself.. I wrote on my google account and emailed it to my yahoo account.

Day Three-  Attention Giving..

Describe in one sentence something that is uncomfortable and unwanted for you. Then give 5 minutes to writing about how you would like things to be.

Well surprising enough I found this prompt came to me quickly, but as I logged into the facebook group to check their progress I was surprised to see that a few of the participants were struggling with “something that is uncomfortable”  I easily did more than the allotted 5 minutes. I again emailed myself the reply.

So far I am not finding it difficult and I am as always enjoying the prompts. One of the sponsors I think it was Day One was a webpage called “Journal to Health”

Journal to Health Logo

They were offering a “FREE” 30 day trial on their webpage to members of the Challenge. I am the Queen of Freebies… I love them, So I went over for a look and I LIKED IT!!

I like the set up, I like the easiness of it and I LOVED that you could set a timer and then write for that long, I chose 15 minutes and wondered “whatever can I write in THAT much time” seems both days I have gone over the time limit. There are journal prompts set up in different categories example-

  • Dreams
  • Memoirs
  • Letters
  • mind, body, spirit,
  • other stuff etc etc. So you chose your topic and then you chose a subtopic.

Dreams (for example)

Freud believed that our dreams provide a window into our unconscious minds that helps us better understand who we are. Writing about your dreams can give you new insights into your moods, emotions and behavior.

All your dreams in one journal

  • Date each dream (click the date icon in the menu).
  • Write in the present tense, as if the dream is still happening.
  • Write everything that comes to mind without thinking.
  • Were you in the dream or were you an observer?
  • How did the dream make you feel?
  • Did anything in the dream relate to actual events?
  • When you’re done writing, give it a title and note what kind of dream it was: recurring, anxiety, nightmare, or pleasant.

I don’t have dreams I remember so I have not chosen that subject yet. But each topic has a sub topic with journal prompts, and I am loving it.

Day One- I chose “Family” and  Subtopic was “write a paragraph about each member of my immediate family”.

Day Two- I chose “Letters” and subtopic was “you wronged me”  I had to write a letter to someone who had wronged me and there were specific things we had to include. Boy did the volcano erupt for this prompt. I wish I could cut and paste it and print it out for my hand written journal, I felt like I had lost 15 kilograms in heaviness writing that out.And yes well over the 15 minute time limit I set.

Now technically this is not the prompts that came with Nathan’s challenge so I am not sure if I am breaking rules.. but if I am so be it because I like this site and will continue on for my free 30 days, after that we shall see. I really recommend you go and have a look at this site even if for only the prompts. Costing is $3.95 per month or $42.00 per year… I’ll see how I feel if I can keep up for the full 30 days.

So if you re interested in following along, please check back for more, I’ll try and remember to Blog about it every few days.
